Default style of seats

I am looking at some nice seat covers for my 1980 928S Euro, they have been on email and they offer about 14 different styles. The set they are showing for years 77 to 84 have perforations all the way to the top of the seats. The one he is showing for 85 to 89 look like mine. There are 4 perforated sections in the center of seat on both back and bottom which is what mine look like. I`m looking at these on EBAY and the seller doesn`t know his *** from a hole in the ground. Can anyone help me out. I have been trying to upload a pic of seats but I`m having no luck, I`ll try afew more times, email me at toofer@earthlink.net and I can attach pics and send to you. thanks toof

Your picture shows '78-84 comfort seats. Its 1 of 3 possible seat style used for those MY's. Other two are sport seat and cheap basic 911 seat type used on some ROW '80-82 MY 4.5L models. Cheap version wasn't available in S model.

'85-95 seats are totally different. There are two styles for them, comfort and sport. Preforated leather wasn't only possible leather in these. In '88-95 MY there was optional draped non perforated variation available.

If you have later style seats someone obviously changed them after your car was made. Without seeing them its impossible to say exactly what they are. 911, 944, 968 etc use abroximately similar seats but not exactly same as 928.

"cheap" seats weren't available in US? I guess mine are Comfort, but I am now getting a little confused. Mine have the same horizontal "channel" below the headrest, and I was coming to the conclusion that that disappeared after 1979. But come to think of it, it was an '80 Euro I noticed the change on.

78-84 all have the same horizontal "channel".

Mine don't, in my '84, and I am pretty sure they are original. They are much flatter in the seating area, and non electric.

Mine are like those pictured, except those in the pic appear to be manual comfort seats. My old '83S also had the same seats, the standard "comfort" seats. What do the sports from those years look like? I don't think I've seen them.

Yup, Those are the sport seats - very uncomfortable too.

The best in my opinion are the early all leather manual confort seats. They mount low enough to give adequate head room and the seat bolsters do not cut into your legs on long drives.

Those '78-84 sport seats are probably rarest stock seat style. I would be surprised if there is model specific cover available for them.

I originally found these seats to be uncomfortable, but discovered that if i sat with my rear all the way back (no slouching) they were actually pretty good. I have been on a few longish (4 hour) drives in this car, and feel just fine when I get to the end.
