Post wiring/voltage drops and the mystery sauna syndrom

1. Any one found a better source for the 'common console switches? $38.00 at 928 International.
I popped the tops on mine, 2 were contact rockers and two were the bearing spring type. Cleaning and adjusting helped but time has had it's way with them.
2. The exhaust system caused part of my electrical problems but not all I fear.
After removing the left rear splash guard -in the daylight this time- I first noticed that at some point the tire had come into hard contact with the guard leaving several groove patterns in the plastic.
Then I noticed -while cleaning- that the left rear fender marker light spade connectors were discolored from a heat source. Initially thought it was from a short but upon closer inspection I had a exhaust leak from several spots on the rear muffler seam. I dropped the system, cleaned, wire wheeled the entire seam area and started brazing. Each time -3 total- I would braze an inch past either side of the leak and after a day or so the leak would pop up somewhere else on the seam.
Hence, my experiments with the pipes.
However the fuse keeps blowing on the left marker light circuit. What I want to do is just clip the old wires and solder in a new feed with a heavier gauge wire. Does anyone see a problem with that?
3.I also notice when the ammeter drops toward 11,worse 10 volts. (alt.) that almost immediately the door vents commence scorching my left knee and heating things up in general. I slide everything to the right, turn the fan on high for a couple of seconds then turn every thing off.
What in the system would cause , or for that matter, what would be susceptable to a voltage spike causing the magic sauna to appear?
TIA,
