Being an ex boater, I really wanted those to hang on the wall. But knowing how the reserves are so high on any of their auctions, I didn't bother bidding.

They are right - "Worth a Kings Ransom if you need them"

Wonder where they set the reserve. Probably WAY high, because they are waiting for that one king and his boat.

Holy Crap, I herd about the 928 Boat engine but never seen.

Bet those manifolds are worth as much as the 5.0L long block.

Water cooled exhaust manifolds. Great for Turbo applications. You'd only have to drag along a water tank to compensate for the total loss of coolant. I can't imagine anyone running an S4 engine in a boat. I bet they get close to nothing for them.

Strangely enough there was a pair of Lamborghini V12s up for sale a few months back. They were used marine engines. Opening bid was 30k and they needed rebuilds. That's even a bit more obscure.

1 bid @ $100.

No Sale----

as with most of their stuff, the reserve was probably out of sight?

Maybe they'd work with an S4 engine in fresh water....I'm guessing salt use would punish a non-marine engine pretty quickly. I'm guessing that they'll end up as a pair of pricey wall hangings or conversation pieces...

why would you need to drag a water tank along?

they still have water pick up at the bottom of the boat, and a separate "pull pump" to feed the water pump of the engine to run as normal.

Lambo V12 is much more common marine engine than 928 V8. 7L version were and possibly still are commonly used in offshore powerboat racing.
