That is why I would pay, maybe even 200-225 IF I KNOW it was done right and maybe drive as Porsche puts it "A long journey" 150-200 miles.
Abbey is just hard core.
NO is a LONG way from where he is at.
Of course the drive is a reward in it self.

After 35 years, I have learned one thing, a honest mechanic is not ever going to get rich repairing cars.
That is why I would pay, maybe even 200-225 IF I KNOW it was done right and maybe drive as Porsche puts it "A long journey" 150-200 miles.

I just paid $150 and felt it was worth it. I asked Sears what they charge and they said $69.95 and then they said what kind of car and I said a 928. The two guys at the counter in unison say...oh we charge 99.95 for sports cars. The look on their face made me nervous so I didn't take them up on their offer.

But anyone who is putting a turbo on a 928 is hard core in my book Abby.
If I could find some one or a shop in Atlanta that had a good rep on this in Atlanta it would be a no brainer, just take it to them.
So far I have stuck out in Atlanta for some one who really knows the issues that are unique to the 928.
Some of the MB's have issues also in that regard.
It would be a MAJOR investment for me and I would lose a bay for the most part.
We do not do tires and have no intentions of ever doing them, so there would be a very limited market for us.
But my tool fetish says, just do it Greg, even if you only do your own cars, you will know it is right.

Read my post on the Salt Lake City thread today. How far would I go? Well, considering I have had my 928 "aligned" THREE FREAKING TIMES at a rate of $350 a pop, and considering I have prematurely and unevenly worn out probably seven sets of tires at $135 a tire X 2 + mounting and balancing ($25), and considering I just bought another two front tires to stop the out of balance front shimming on the last set but have now stooped to paying for less expensive tires, and considering I am freaking sick of this s**t, I think if you can do a proper inspection and identify worn parts, replace them properly and then align the car properly, I would drive to freaking Georgia to have you do my car if I didn't know someone in SLC that can do it also, even if you charged three times what you plan to charge.
I trust I have answered your question.

Count me in among those that would pay whatever it takes to have an alignment done by someone we trust.
How about the racing and track community for a niche? There must be thousands of autocross, open track and racing cars around Atlanta that dread the thought of finding a local alignment source that's not going to balk or screw something up. If you get a set of corner balance scales you could be very popular, I might even move just to be closer

How far would I go? My garage. How much would I spend? About 145+35+170+20 for a Fastrax Camber/Caster Gauge, a laser level, a set of turn plates from Harbor Freight, and two 10 foot 2"X12" boards.
All of this is part of the gear I used for doing a home alignment using the methods outlined here:

Because after 5 yrs. of messed up alignments, screwed up front tire wear patterns and less than optimal cornering, I now have solved all these problems and know how to align any shark, and make tweaks for really incredible handling, like I suspect it's supposed to be. Well worth the investment. - Ruf

Regardless of how that goes, I would still like to setup a home alignment setup.
And for the original questions, if I had a local trusted performance shop, I'd pay $150 or so for a quality alignment. And I think we have a few of them around here. Lots of local racers and support shops.

5 minutes from my house----
brand new computerized laser guided Hunter rack.
they let me supervise while doing it.
cost: $189.00
it's dead on accurate and I'm picky as hell about the alignment------

One thing that I have not got my mind around is why the DSP400 instead of a later machine like the DSP600, is the machine every one wants to have for doing the 928 other than that is what Porsche recommends.
I have a bunch of things to look into and your idea of doing racers cars is a good one.
