GTS Shifter in black is $279.95 (colors are about $20 more) and I have had them arrive in less than a week.
I get excellent service from Porsche and they expedite them for me from Germany.

Afshin: I have a new ball cup if you need it. I have just been all through the shift linkage, call me if you want the scoop on this stuff.
p.s. I would have told you how hard you have to yank to get the shift **** off. It's like 100lbs upward...a lot.

Ah Glen, yeah I'm up to my usual getting carried away although my 928 needs much more work than the 500 did.
Hey Carl, I'll give you a call tomorrow to catch up. I'm curious to get your impression after each of the changes you made. Besides that if the weather holds we need to plan another drive before the seasons over.

Hi guys, slight thread hijack but same subject.
I'm getting the parts together to renovate my shifter too. Planning to replace the front and rear couplers as well as add a short-shifter. Will use the Motorsports coupler for the front one.
My new short shifter arrived and I took off my shift **** to see how it would fit on the new shifter. Well it doesn't fit. I have a Momo shift **** with a longer metal collar than the stock ***** have, and since the aluminum short shifter flairs wider than the steel stock one, it can't seat all the way down onto the shifter.
I suppose I could either a) go back to the stock ****, b) have the shifter cut down to fit the ****, c) hone out the inside of the **** to fit the shaft, but I'm not sure how I would do that w/o wrecking the ****, or d) put some black rtv on the shifter shaft and just jamb it on there (it does seem to seat fairly tight when just pressed on tight).
I would hesitate to cut down the depth of the shifter since I assume that it needs to be fatter in aluminum to retain the same strength and resistance to flex as the thinner stock steel one.
I have gotten used to the feel and look of the Momo **** and would prefer to use this over the stock setup. Anyone else run into this? What did you do?
Also, what are the part numbers for the shifter bushings? I forgot to order them when I got the shifter and it would make sense to replace these while i'm in there.

Chris I know the auto's have an adaptor piece which is required to fit an aftermarket shif ****. I thought that the same applies for 5spd cars but I'm not certain. You may also want to try contacting Momo directly to determine if they have a retrofit kit, I know they have them for other cars.
Do you have a new leather boot for the momo shifter? If yes can you take a pic of it?

Hey Afshin,
I believe it is the same stock leather boot that works with the Momo shift ****. It was on the car when I got it so I don't know the history of the modification. Everything looks stock but the ****, which didn't use an adapter but uses little lateral tightening screws that are concealed by the lower part of the collar which screws on over them. I'll go look at it again later and will take a pic if there is anything worth seeing.
Good idea r/e contacting Momo, maybe the sell another adapter kit

Update 2
Well I ordered a short shifter and new bushings and was installing it this afternoon but unfortunately it came to a screeching halt when I snapped the plastic piece which is positioned near the passenger side and holds the upper and lower links in position. Guess I'll be ordering one of these.
Wally had made a recommendation to use a thin wire to hold the springs together when assembling everything which is absolutely a must. I didn't have wire so I used a small zip tie. I've attached a picture.
But even after the zip tie and spring installation I find that it's still a very tight squeeze. Are there any other tricks/tips to getting this assembled? Maybe I just need practice..
Here are a few pictures of the short shifter next to thes shortened stock shifter. You can see that the holes are spaced much further apart which is what I believe reduces the throws. If I hadn't broken the plastic piece I'd know for sure.

That's correct-I installed the short shifter a couple of days ago. The spring and nylon spacer get tossed. Biggest problem I had was having the new bushings on the outside of the shaft getting pushed out as I slid it on to the pins. Works great-worth the effort!
