HELP! Won't stop buzzing!
 

I seem to have a new, louder buzzer in my dash following some work on my driver's door (window roller, guides, door stop, etc). I had to remove a badly corroded red door safety light.

When I turn to accessory, with a door open, I get the all too familiar buzzer that stops when I shut the doors.

Now, when I turn to ignition/run, I get a second, new buzzer that won't stop buzzing. It's louder than the first buzzer. I thought the 1980 US had a single seat belt buzzer.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Probably not the same but i hit the signal switch that activates as a parking light while working on my car. The buzzer wouldn't go off until I finally found the reason why.

When I got my car it had a constant buzzing noise from somewhere in the dash area.

Took me a while to realize it was one of the relays in the fuse panel; a big 'double' one; for the wipers I think. When I put my finger on the relay and gently rocked it, it shut up and hasn't uttered a sound since... :D

Of course can't say if your case is the same, but it's probably worth a check.

Much like in this unresolved thread https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ht=buzzer+hvac, the new buzzer noise stops when I move the climate control lever just slightly (< 1/8in) away from OFF. In my case, the car and garage are cold. It must be:

Related to my door work (window roller, guides, etc).
Related to a slightly drained battery (dome lights were on during the work).
A complete coincidence (I don't like to believe in them).

What could I have screwed up in the driver's door to cause the HVAC controller (not the seat belt relay) to buzz? Everything went back together except for the red door light (bulb socket badly corroded).

did you disconnect the battery while you were working on your car?

Is the battery fully charged?

its a good idea to turn off the lights when the doors are going to open for more than a minute.

No, but it fires up nicely. My LED dome lights don't draw much. I've had a bad/very low battery before but I've never heard this noise before. I'll be driving it around tomorrow.

It sounds like a loader, lower pitch buzzer in the automatic climate control. It almost sounds mechanical.

I have the EXACT same noise/problem/temporary cure as you. If you ever figure it out let me know.

Sounds like the weak climate relay symptom. I believe dr Bob has a cure it it is. Is climate control on? If so try shutting all off and see if sound goes away.

I get this annoying nagging sound eminating from the passengers seat when I take my wife for a drive and press hard on the accelerator.

Good find. In my case, I didn't touch anything but the driver's door cabling. Perhaps a bad connection or partial short. I'll keep looking.

Seems to me most likely unrelated...

The other buzzer was probably just the one side marker/parking light warning.

The one related to the HVAC - the AC clutch relay buzzing or one of the actuators buzzing. Is the AC functional? other HVAC features fully functional? e.g. all flap positions? If you have other problems there this is just likely related to those issues.

Mine no longer buzzes. It fixed itself. Perhaps it was a slightly drained battery or the vibration of driving jiggled something.

This might be a long shot but it's an easy check before you climb into the dash.

Wally Plumley noted that the blue/black vacuum checkvalve on the brake booster can produce an annoyingly loud buzz (with the engine running obviously). If it is the culprit you can probably feel the buzz with a finger. To confirm, remove it temporarily and replace with a piece of pipe. They cost pennies from 928Intl.
