Default 928 turns over but will not start.

This morning was preparing to drive car to be aligned. It started fine and was in the garage warming up,I went to lock the house, and the car had died and would not restart. After giving it 15 minutes or so,i tried again, nothing.Just for the heck of it I thru in 5 gallons of fuel, still nothing.Sounds/feels like no spark or fuel pump gone bad.1983 4.7 motor.Any ideas? Paul?

Fuel pump relay? Try pulling the relay and jumper pins (actually the socket for the pins) 30 and 87.

Relays can be tough to safely pull out.....often you can pull the metal cover off, leaving the relay still in place. Best to disconnect battery, then use some kind of metal blade to get behind the relay and gently pry it out. There are relay removal tools that make this easier. Anyway, after you remove it you can re-connect the battery and jump the terminals as Andrew mentioned to see if the fuel pump is working.

So fuel pump works, but car still doesn't start?

Also, just to be sure, you have an 83 Euro S engine in the car, correct?

I believe there was an engine-swap for a Euro S, thus he should have CIS injection, not L-Jet.

Yes the car has a 83 Euro S motor,I cant hear the fuel pump running, although I never could before either, had my son go behind the car and listen as I jumped the relay,no noise that he could hear either.

You should definitely be able to hear the pump if you are down next to it. Remove the cover over the fuel pump to be sure it's running or not. Cover is easy to remove, just 2 nuts to unscrew on top part of cover.

It's under the gas tank on the rear passenger side.
