You won't burst my balloon. Prior to this, I lived for four years at 82nd and MacArthur, Oakland, and prior to that, at O'Farrell and Larkin in S.F. Is that enough of a contrast to Funnyvale?
I know what you mean about development of your home ground, as I spent my childhood (well the part before now, anyway)in Hawaii before it was developed and no one locked their doors. When I finally grow up, I want to live .......ah, I don't think I will grow up, why bother?!

Austin is nice, but no hills (or mountains) --Santa Clara is nice, but as the posters say; price of living is not the cheapest. Gas is more than most of the USA and there are lot more cars that can damage your shark. (not too many wide open roads)
That said, been a bay area native all my life, couldn't think of a better place to live. Snow, mountains (not far, but no shoveling); the beach, golf--just 30 minutes away (less in the shark).
It's also true that you can probably rent a 4brhouse for not much less that a 2-3 bedrm apt now that things are a little soft around here.
I rented my 4bd/2.5 ba to some friends for $2k/mo. Corner lot/2 car garage. Good luck, and let us know when you get here.

Now that I see how many sharks there are in the bay area, I am excited at the prospect of another move. This one would sucessfully put me as far away from Ohio as possible (Sorry, Bro)
See you all, if I get the job.
Bad part is I just got rid of those damn California plates off of the Shark, and I was hoping to get rid of the CATs.
