More newfangled tensioners
<- My new 86.5 needs a PKsn'r, so it's time for another run!
I have a few peeps on board already, but I need a few more to get the cost per down.
(Order)
(Manual w/part#s)

I'm interested in the setup for my 87 euro auto...well, actually the engine is an 88 NA version...anyway, do i understand correctly Ken that you supply some parts and i would order Audi parts to complete it?....in any event, you have other happy customers so i'm sure its sorted out....installation instructions included?

John,
I supply the bracket(s), bolts, and tension light defeat bits.
I added a link to the current manual.

I have an '88 Euro model. I'm confused about the air-pump and I apologize for not searching more. I'm guessing I should remove this if I have it...or should it remain?
Thanks for any clarification as I think I need a PKsn'r

Mike...........the air pump is not required especially if your thinking of removing or replacing the stock cats. Without the pump the plumbing from the filter to the pump, diverter valve and cats can all be removed.
Can't say enough about the PKsn'r.................see attached thread above.

Thanks Malcolm...In that case I'll go with the "no-airpump type".
Another question...I have the 9201 tool...After I confirm the tension do I need to check it periodically or does the PKsn'r take care of that?

Recall that the new tensioner is an auto hydraulic unit so as the tension is checked so the tensioner releases. If you read the PKsn'r install Ken advises on measuring the extended piston of the tensioner to gauge the tightness of the belt.

The initial tensioner piston measurement is to verify that a individual engine will be safely tensioned over the range of new-to-seasoned, cold-to-hot. IE, that the tensioner will never reach it's stops.
So far, everyone has measured up.

Wow looks like a great system......that must have been some work
But heres a ??? You say not to pull out the "pin"......but on page three where you tension the tensioner it shows it in place, then in the lower picture its not...but you didn't say to pull it out? Or am I just blind?

Is there an old post that provides an introduction to this device, cost, benefit, etc.? Sounds like it's been around for a while, probably before I started following this board, acquired my shark, etc.
