Default 1979 PORSCHE 928 '79 Zakspeed racecar

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...QQcmdZViewItem

Please tell me this is not someone from here.

Great quotes from this listing.

"All of the 928s I have ever seen are one color plain and dull"

"There is a red light in the rear bumper located next to the left bumperette, that only comes on when this car hits 150 MPH.(This was desighned to shine very bright,to coution other drivers on the autobon of your speed.)"

"The stock phone dial rims were replaced(They schred thair valve stems at 140 MPH.)"

"Most of it's tecnology is being coppied today on these new cars. The prior owner had just put over $25,000 in new parts, factory instaled at PORSCHE.."

There are more, but I can't stop laughing.

That car has been for sale a few times. Can you imagine how much @$$ that guy is pulling at the family reunion with that car?

He can't be all that bad...

That is one impressive shifter. Part of the special "long throw" kit, I believe. Helps preserve the synchros.

All things considered perhaps we should feel sorry for him. All that time and effort and the Maverick is worth more than that poor 928. Which may not be saying much.

Wonder what happened to the air filter?
Why would you take the best engineered car in the world & then make it look like a Capri?
Surprised he did not mention the chromed exhausts

My personal fav feature is the exquisite hand-painted lettering on the sides. Must've taken him hours.

I just have to preserve this description here..... its too priceless!!!

I restored the finish of this car to replicate the '79 Zakspeed German Capri that hit the "Profile Formula Cercut"in 1979 and dominated in this nich'e all of '79 -and '80-'81 also. When I had the bodywork done and was going to paint it the next day.I received this picture on the cover of Scale Auto magazine,I wanted this car's looks. All of the 928s I have ever seen are one color plain and dull.(Now these cars are anything but dull!!!)And for those of you not familar with the 928,They have almost an entire alumanum body, engine, and transmition.this PORSCHE has a 5 speed stick shift and a V8 w/2 single overhead cams.VERY FAST-NOT FOR TEENAGERS-WELL SEASONED DRIVERS ONLY.!!!.There is a red light in the rear bumper located next to the left bumperette, that only comes on when this car hits 150 MPH.(This was desighned to shine very bright,to coution other drivers on the autobon of your speed.)The stock phone dial rims were replaced(They schred thair valve stems at 140 MPH.)These new BBS racing wheels are speed rated at over 200 MPH.And so is the new aqua wide track tires, all around for better cornering. The 928 features the wiessach compliant rear steer, and its transmition is also in the rear,to make these cars perfectly balenced.(Unlike the 911 that breaks loose in the corners and flies off the road backwards). When Dr.Ernst Fermin Desighned the 928 he wanted this to be the very best car ever made.It won the car of the year, just a few months before this car was built. And it was said at that time to be the very best engineered car in the world. And some critics say that it still is today. Most of it's tecnology is being coppied today on these new cars. The prior owner had just put over $25,000 in new parts, factory instaled at PORSCHE..Some of these consist of,both clutches, fuel tank, both fuel pumps, fuel filters, fuel distributer, fuel injectors, cold start fuel injector, brake rotors, clipers, shoes, pads, the afore mentioned tires, and other parts.I have had this car now exactly 3 yrs.I got it in Nov. '04 ..I never drive this car,or any of my other cars, for I have not had a drivers liscence for over 14 YRS.(Aug. 21 '93)was the last day I drove.I have put over $13,000 in paintwork and parts sence I have owned it.It needed a windsheild-I had Z-Bart come and instal one here.I put on a differant stering wheel(The stock units look as if someone scavenged them from bumpercars)!!So that definitly had to go.I also didn't like the factory shifter **** either.Fake and cheep looking. So I opt.for a "Fast and the Furious"shift ****.I also instaled a Pioneer CD. unit with a monster amp.instaled under the passenger side seat.2 12' JBL subwoofers in cabenet in the cargo erea.and I also instaled high watage speekers in both doors.I set a pair of stock sized but higher watage speekers in the rear-That I didnot instal,in the stock locations.I also instaled new struts to hold the hood and the hatchback opened.and I put in a new set of sparkplug wires.(blue to match the darkest color of my grafix.) I also ran the grafix into all door jambs, exc. And I reapolsterd the interrior door inserts to match darkest color of the grafix too. This car all matches and it has the desierd look of the car I was replicating right down to the gold BBS wheels.I painted this car in the top of the line DUPONT Chromeabase basecoat/clearcoat the erea that looks black is accualy dark forest green with gold pearl. The best veiw of this,is a picture of the drivers side fender. In the reflection of the trees you can see the color the best.Pictures do not do this car justace.I have been asked about the water pump and timming belt.So I called the prior owner about all that he had had done and he told me that he didnot have that done.I have been informed by 928 experts to have these 2 things done before driving it on the road(Because of age)There is nothing wrong with either one of these, now, but I just wanted to list that, because it's pretty important. And I also wanted to list it's flaws. The paint on the roof was cooked by a J.C.Whitnet car cover.Moister was traped between car and cover and the sun steemed wrinkeled up the paint on the roof. And the prior owner did not have the keyed ignition replaced. He bought me the electronic portion of it to locate in a hidden remote erea. This starts the car with a philips screwdriver and the key unlocks the steering column. Also the idol has been getting incresingly higher(almost at 2000 RPMs.).I was told, that the car is running rich,by not driving it,and that this would straiten out and reset its self,by driving it regulaly.also there is a small crack in the aluminum right fender,I noticed it only after painting thats how small it is but its there. You can write me for my phone #, and to ask any questions that you might have,Before bidding..I live 85 Miles southwest of Chicago for those of you who would lik to see this car in person.THERE WILL BE NO JOY RIDES,AND NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18 TO COME AND LOOK AT THIS CAR.!! NOT A TOY.!!!.FOR SERRIOUS INQUIRES ONLY!!!Sence I have owned it ,it has not been liscenced to drive on the road.As far as shipping this car,I can help find a very good shipper.Other than the ones, that list with cars for sale. Those co. give you a $ amount.I bought an MGB 2 months ago and the price they listed on the car to ship to me was $506.00 .So I bid acordingly. When I won this car all 3 companys changed thair prices.they said, "OH the car dosn't run, thats $750.00"..I said no you can see that it is all in 20 boxed."There are boxes with this car?"Thats $1,500.00 for a mandatory inclosed trailer".and they all were looking right at this items page, that they had thair quotes on.One woman said,"It looks like it runs"! (there was even a picture with the hood opeded and the engine all taken apart)She was looking right at it.Go figure. My wife got sick, and told me,to have them offer it to the next highest bidder.I finaly got an exelent co. that picked it up in Ga. and deliverd it to me quick for $450.00 Needless to say,my wife was so pleased she took them,to a dinning restorant, and gave them a $50.00 tip to boot.So there are good ones out there don't be fooled by the ones that post there quotes. They are NO BARGIN !! I have wrote all information. No warrentee written or implied.Sale as-is.I also wanted to show the Maverick that I did in the 60s dragster style. So Thank you for looking and have a great day,Sencerly Rob Lucas
