1985 928S all of the sudden no instrument lights, checked fuse #44 and it is OK and getting power. The ashtray light works fine which also runs of off fuse #44.

Have moved the dimmer wheel back and forth with no results.

Any suggestion as to what/where to check

Check the thread labeled "fuse" below...sounds like a rash of these problems.

You might try cleaning the electrical connectors that plug into the back of the dash/instrument pod. I tried the pencil eraser first and ended up very gently using very fine wet sandpaper (like 600 grit)
