Question Anyone using a G-Tech Pro

Thinking of buying a G-Tech Pro to establish baseline performance and evaluate changes. Anyone used one? Any opinions? Interested in good and bad.

Thanks

I have only recently heard of these things - they sound great and I want one too. What a great way of instantly finding out if an upgrade to your car has any actual quantifiable effect. Cool.

Cheers

FYI.. I have a cool little unit called a Road Dyno. Manufacturer says it is within 5hp of a real dyno as long as you have the proper paramaters set. (ie: gearing, weight, drag, weather condtitions)

It is sweet, easy to use, and graphs out the run. Figure out the 0-60 time, speed, accel G's, and of course Power. My thought is even if it is off 10hp, I have a base line and can go from there as I do my upgrades.

I have attached a run for you to see. Very cool stuff. I cannot remember the website now, but I will get it if you are interested.

I just did a search and found them at: http://www.charm.net/~mchaney/homedyno/dynokit.htm

and in the UK: http://www.microsmith.co.uk/perf.htm

The UK site seems to have more options with a Dyno+ kit

Cheers

Are the runs consistent from one run to the next? I'd really be more interested in that than in the actual accuracy of the stated numbers. Has it worked out pretty well for you?

Mike, check your e-mail.

The runs are very close. Within 2hp if on the same strip of road. Within 5 doing it all diffrent places. Up hill, down, whatever, it always is close.

I got it for a base line reading, then used it to tune my mods. Worked very well. When I get it all back together, I will do a read dyno and compare with my kit. Should be intresting. With the cost of a dyno session, it has well paid for itself.

If you have a laptop in the car with you, you can download the info on the side of the road, make changes, and do it again.

Quite cool and fun if you ask me!

Thanks for the information. It sounds exactly like something I could use when experimenting with different things. I've got a G-Tech, but it's kind of limited because it doesn't let you know what's going on over the full course of the RPM range.

I've spent some time on dynos tuning, and the cost can add up pretty quickly. If you want to do some unbolting and rebolting type of comparisons, it can add up a lot faster.

oh yeah..gotta get me one of those! Very kool and helpful! Im tired of paying 75 bucks a pop at the local dyno. Would be very cool if one could tie it in or get the ARM 1 Air/fule ratio data displayed side by side!
