"Push rods and anything larger than a flat 6 are not allowed"

Seems pretty clear to me.. the rule is only met by people who have both push rods and anything with more than straight 6 (presumably V6, v8 etc).

The other meaning that I think people are interpreting it as, which is where the confsion lies, is:

"Push rods OR anything larger than a flat 6 are not allowed".

Maybe its that I have a background that includes computing, and specifically databases, but "and" is explcitly inclusive.

maybe its a typo. should have been, "pushrods on anything larger than a flat six, is not allowed" otherwise, use 2006 rules that say, nothing larger than a v8 I think you are right though. the operative word there is "and".

The Corvair flat 6 had pushrods. Maybe they wanted to eliminate the Z0 6 Vette with the pushrod rule. But as I mentioned that infers that all the late model overhead cam Mustangs and even the Ford GT would be "legal" . Primedia owns the tuner magazines and clearly wants those cars to look good !! Good luck but keep the hood closed

yep, i definitely think it was ment to eliminate the vet, viper, camaro, and most mustangs. ferarri still holds one of the records, and it was a v8 3.6 liter.

Im really curiuos as to what will be out there this year. its pretty cool to do this kind of event, especially with my brothers' company with the bolt on power device, "eRAM", sponsoring me in the event. boost is unlimited and who knows what will be there this year. there are 3 major catagories of cars, 4x4, front wheel drive and rear wheel drive. in the street division, the only rule is a valid regestration and 100 rated DOT tires and all factory glass.
We could slip in a good finish without anyone noticing and get some world wide exposure!

Who are we trying to kid? That rule obviously means that cars with pushrod engines and/or cars with engines larger than a flat six are not allowed to compete.

My guess is whom ever is responding to Marks question, does not realize a 928 violates the flat six rule.

Per Jim Bailey, keep the hood closed.

On the other hand, I could be totally full of it.

Ive had lots of discussion about the V8 of the 928 with the event organizer. He said, the rule was to keep out the chevys and vipers. ferarris were ok, in fact one still owns the record in the limited group.

from his response, of the rule being "confusing" and my porsche 928 is welcome, i think larger than flat six AND pushrods, means no pushrod v8s or v10s is what was ment.

I sure hope you're right Mark, 'cause I would love to see you mix it up with them boy's. But they couldn't think of a more convoluted way to write the rule and invite challenges from a raft of ornery racers. Perhaps they should have just said "No American Cars".

But Charley, that would not have been politically correct, and they may have offended someone.

The 928 will probably be welcomed as an interesting curiosity despite it's engine configuration... unless/until it goes out and posts seriously competitive times, at which point someone will start counting cylinders and wagging fingers

Best wishes on the adventure - it's great to see 928's running at the track.

Yep, im very interested in how we will be recieved.

I got the rear window in and the side glass quarters as well. we are all set.
we are leaving on tuesday night, and putting the old girl on the trailer so we look professional

Ill post some pics when we get back.

we are competiting in the limited class. (DOT tires 100 rated and stock glass with street regestration) 2nd place last year was 1:57 on track config #13 clockwise. I think i did something near 2 mins back in 2002, and thats the last time i was there. So, thats the goal.

Im actually looking forward to this event. it sounds like its going to be a full on NOPI fest! on the other side, i feel like an adult going to a frat party!

When do we get to sign the dang HOOD!

Only JD put more money in the pot for your motor than me, and I want my name on the car!

Sorry having another testosterone moment!

Soon!

You got it!

we have to find a good way to do this that looks good, and recognizes all the support!

I wonder if we can make a picture file and then turn it into a big sticker or put individual names on the car, or just have the car signed. (maybe a stensil and i can have names painted on.)

anyway, Im looking forward to seeing the motor. I think the boys back east will be taking some pictures of our engine and tell us how it is going. Ive been sending money back to Tim and Todd to complete the project.

Hope it will be ready for the off season rebuild.

I think Charley B is right, they just didn't want any big ol' American muscle ruining their party.

big ole american muscle?? or german muscle?

you should see the turbos on these things!

a common car is the Evo8, which is a 2 liter or stroked to a 2.4 liter and puts out near 440rwhp at 27lbs of boost!!!!! I think that skyline has a rumored , 750hp!!

off to buttonwillow with the mouse motor!
