The time attack superlap attack is a bad JOKE bunch of *******. Just compare some POC lap times to their best at Willow Springs. Their fastest car Subi Sti highly modified only did a 128.185 Poc has Mark Anderson at 124.58 0n 06/10/07 the fastest poc record car is a 1. 18 and change . A 2 liter 911 with minor mods does about 1.33 .The Time attack Unlimited class best was a 131.17 350 Z car . Sure they banned the 911 cup cars because the 400 hp 911s were making the 500-700 HP magazine cars look silly !

James Sofronas ran that 911 GT3 cup car to a time of 1:49.0 at Buttonwillow. this same car has run 1:30.xx at Laguna seca on RA1s. Anderson, has never broke 1:34 on RA1s. with the new track configuration and all the weight they made him run in World challenge, i bet he would run 1:32.xx. point is, last year, the porsche GT3 cup car with the motorsport upgrade for world challenge, won last year in the unlimited class. next fastest was one of the skyline or turbo boost monster 2 liters , so they are no slouches.

The porsche cup car with those modifications for WC is near 440rwhp, not much off Mark Andersons 928 of near 475rwhp. It is more like the GT3RS that is run in ALMS, than it is a cup car.

Now, how many of these "*******" even showed up to the superlap at willow. 1:28 is not a bad time for a slightly modified subi sti. in fact, POC R5 racers barely get into this time range and those are very fast and well prepared 911s.
Mark anderson Also runs FULL slicks at willow springs which are incredibly better, especially at Willow springs. Ask Mark what he did at willow springs when he put on the RA1s and tested.

Anyway, there are some very good drivers in the superlap. one in the limited class running the evo 4x4 was one i raced with in the Porsche BMW challenge. others, running much faster had some pretty powerful racers.

a top 5 time in this event is moving right along, in the unlimited class and in the limited class.

The funny thing about this event is that it is really focused around the tuner crowd, you get a lot of the very young, crazy kids out there. Heck even Japan sends a car out for this event, as well as the top 3 cars from nationally held try outs!

we are going to be a little odd looking at this event, but there is a record that is still standing that a 360 modina ferarri set a few years ago!

anyway, im looking forward to pulling out all the stops and running the holbert car hard for a time at this demanding track. 23 turns, 3 miles and a little bit of everything. Im just hoping the car and I can turn a respectable time. last time i was there, was 6 years ago!

I think it's pretty clear that the 928 is not welcome. Does anyone ahve a copy of the rule book from last year? It could be that they decided to limit it to the 4 and 6 cyl cars for this year.

Are you replacing the glas in your car? I thought you had the rear quarter windows and hatch glass replaced with Lexan.

yep, found the rear quarter windows in the garage, and have the rear window as well. putting them in this weekend. I guess thats about a 20lb adder, so ill have to just use a little less gas to make up for the extra weight when i go out to do a hot lap!

It should be a fun event. I kind of want to go just to check out that Mine's Skyline. It has such a huge reputation amongst the Japanese tuner crowd, I'd like to see what it can really do.

Looking forward to this one! The Holbert car is probably older than the organizers. I wouldn't be surprised if the thought it was a flat 6...

Those rules are awfully vague. The pushrod rule is pretty straightfoward, but "Larger then [sic] a flat six"? They may be in for an awful surprise.

That is a weirdly worded rule. What do they mean, larger than a flat 6? That's not a measure of displacement. And it doesn't necessarily have to result in Marc's reading either, as what about an inline or v 6? Weird.

Marc, did you verify that you could race a 5 liter dohc v8, or that you could race a 928? Jim B. may be right.

no pushrods and a flat 6. i dont know, are there any flat 6s with pushrods?

Anyway, ive asked them about 6 times already, they wrote back yesterday, "the rules are confusing" but your porsche 928 is welcome."
