had we not done our last pit stop, we could have had a podium finish .
(would have, could have, should have ) I didnt realize how close to the podium we actually were!)
pretty cool, only 2 laps down from 3rd place. If chuck had come in one lap earlier during that caution, we may have bumped a few folks !
thanks again Team Kiln Red 928 (Chuck!)

When I raced motorcycles way back then If I didn't come last, hurt myself and still had tons of fun thats was a great day. Tropies etc are fantastic but the club level racer knows for him/her just being part of the show is the greatest complishment.
Good job Mark, Chuck et al..............now whats the plans for next year.

I LOVE THIS ****!
Thanks for all the great write-ups and play-by-play. We're all rooting for the 928 banner, whoever carries it. But it's especially cool to have you guys give us the run-down afterward so we feel like we're a part of it, if only a small part.

Great write up Mark... Arrived home this morning at 5am... grabbed a couple hours of sleep, now it's time to unpack and catch up.
Mark was the star of the show for the endurance race.. when I jumped in the car I had no radio... so as I tried to get used to using 4th gear - I was a little worried about my lap times.. the on board timer was showing lap times in the 2:04 range and I was able to drop it to 2:00.. fuel was getting low into my stint.. and I was worried that I would lose too many positions - saw the yellow and tried to signal to the pits that I would be coming in, in 2 laps... then 1 lap... (Good thing to remember for next year - hand signals)... anyway - came in, course went green, dropped in 10 gallons of fuel.. and told Mark to get back into the car to finish the race.... It's a team event - and seat time is not important at that point in the race.... (It also turns out that my lap timer was slow and I was running 1:50,1:51's.... )
Still extrememly successful for a first enduro for the car and all drivers - even more important is that the car held up.
Next year, we'll be back - with a better prepared car - and a little more experience... Also next year - we'll try to fill the cars with experienced 928 drivers.... the drivers that share the same passion for these cars as I do!
Again thanks to everyone and especially the California gang.. we couldn't have don't it without them.... !

You did Great Chuck. Hey, Laguna is challenging enough, without trying to race it with only 1 gear!
We had 1 gear, guages were not working, (no tach, flakey speedo, no water temp, etc) we used 1 set of toyos that lasted not only the previous 2 full races, but the 4 hour enduro, they were tiny tires, we had an open diff. We ran the car in times from 1:45 to 1:52, consistantly! not bad in my book. And we beat some teams that are local laguna seca-ites and had much better hardware!
Im still reeling from the experience. A fantastic time! Thanks again!
next year! big tires and wheels, a swaybar, (maybe the LSD, but thats not a requirement ), cut the front springs, dont re-connect the idle cut off switch (that was a big difference), euro intake and TB and we (YOU ) are good to go! (fast!)
