Alpine OEM Porsche CD-2 Radio
Hello, I am trying to track down the rectangular trim that goes around the CD-2 radio. I know that the CD-2 is an OEM Alpine, so if somebody knew what the corresponding Alpine part number was, I would be able to order it from them. Unfortunately, my Porsche dealer cannot find it anywhere in their parts list (they can even find the radio!). Here is a picture of the CD-2, without the rectangular trim which hides the mounting frame.

Thanks for your help,

Peter, I don't think there is a trim piece. If I remember correctly, when I installed the CD2 in my 1980 928 the center console trim fit perfectly around the radio unit, no radio trim needed. The mounting frame was hidden when I put the console trim back on. Perhaps others can check for you, my car is currently at Devek and I won't be able to check until this weekend.
Hope this is of some help.
Richard.

Peter,
There is a trim bezel for the CD-2 and here it is:
It seems purely cosmetic and clips in place.
Unfortunately, there is no part number or other markings on it.

That looks like a standard Alpine trim piece from
the early - mid '90s.
Find a specialty dealer in your area that has carried Alpine for a while and ask to speak to the installer. He will probably have a box full of trim pieces that will fit your CD. If you are very nice, he will probably give it to you.
One last thing, stay away from the chain
stores... Tweeter, etc. They have not carried the line that long and don't recall much of anything beyond the last few days. You will be wasting your time.

Peter,
When you went to the store, did you drive the 928? If so, that may have had something to do with the trim price.
It's funny how when looking for a fairly generic item for our cars, the clerk/sales guy inevitibly asks... "What kind of car is it for?" And we always respond with ...... A 928. The clerk/sales dude responds to us with a knowing...... "Hmmmm, OK". That response means the price just went up 20%.
Glad to hear you found the part, sad to hear you paid for it.
