Unhappy My baby broke...TT Snap, now PSD leak 11-17-07

What a day it has been..........................

I am in Anacortes, WA........ an absolutely gorgeous place. Had a wonderful day, even though I'm not feeling all that well. I got back to my hotel, called Sean to check in to see how things were........................AND HE BROKE MY CAR!!!!! Well, he didn't exactly break her on purpose. We actually don't know what the heck is wrong with her.

A huge thanks to Roger (my FAVORITE Englishman!) for coming to the rescue with a tow. She is back in her garage and Sean is about to start taking her apart to figure out what happened. We're thinking torque tube or transmission

Hey baby,

I'll call you later. This is a thread that sounds just like what happened to your car.

https://rennlist.com/forums/928-forum/262975-drive-train-failure-it-s-the-torque-tube-photos-posted.html

I'm hoping that is all it is. I'll do a tear down tonight/tomorrow and let the List know what I find.

Oh........... Someone has my camera so there won't be any pictures..

Hey Angela & Sean,

I see my thread has surfaced again , lets just hope it’s the TT and not the tranny. We had my car back on the road with only a week or so of down time. I still keep the sheered off end for a paper weight on my desk Angela don’t be to hard on him, mine sheered off making a left turn into my work parking lot at 25mph

Thanks for posting that thread, a quick search popped it right up. Gotta love this place. It happend to me at about 35 under 3/4 power in a left hand turn a mile from our house. Shut it down and started to sweat. The way you described it is exactly what has happened here. I've been blessed to have met the people I now call friends here in DFW, and have helped replace a couple of TT/Transmissions so it should not be too bad.

I borrowed some lift bars from Rog and plan on getting it apart by the morning. We've (meaning the DFW crowd) have some extra transmissions laying around but I think we might be out of torque tubes. Once I get the inspection plate off the rear I'll know for certain.

Right now I'm having a beer, waiting for Monday to be over.

I really need to get a lift. /hint hint nudge nudge

Sean,

Your new avatar looks great. Seems like marriage is agreeing with you.

She took that last weekend. It's no wonder she left town.

Here is another fun one.

I go to use the Porken Lift bars and the Craftsman Jack I have is too damn tall. I have to go get a "good" jack so I can tuck it under the car. Wow, Monday is almost over and I wanted a new jack anyway.

So in the mean time, I'm going to use the factory jack to lift it up high enough so I can put the 3 ton jack under the car to lift it.

Bummer, sorry to hear that. I was going to call and see if you wanted to do some electrical work this Sunday, but I guess you have more important issues to deal with. Need a hand on Sunday for whatever it turns out to be???

I just might Jim, I have a feeling I'm going to need that A/C hooked up so I don't sweat to death under the car.

Thanks buddy

Sean,

I can help all day Wednesday. I can leave straight from work (Walnut Hill & I-35). Shouldn't be too far from your house. I need the address. PM me.

Here is where I am now. Car is up on stands and I've looked in the inspection holes. It would appear that the TT is fine, don't see any twisted metal, shavings or anything.

I can spin the TC by hand in all gear selections very easy.

When I spin my wheels, they both move.

The shift linkage is all connected also.

TC does not spin when the engine is running, in any gear.

Question is, should I go ahead and pull the exhaust and all the heat shields now? I don't have a clue what is wrong at the moment.
