clicking but no starting help
Hi all,
well it started with trouble idling. looked around for vacuum leaks. I saw on the drivers side of the throttle body a plastic yellow cap that had fallen off. I put a paper towel and found that there was suction there. So i thought to myself that must be where i was loosing vacuum went to porsche dealer to order a new cap, brought it home but the cap was too small. I tried to start the vehicle but now no ignition now i am spiraling down. when i turn the key all i here is a clicking sound. help
Is a cap supposed to fitting over the driver side of the throttle body. Is this a reason for my car not idling. help again

tim,
first off, it helps a bunch if we know the model year and other specifics about the car.
if you're just getting clicking, then you've likely run your battery down. the best (safest way to deal with this is to remove the battery and charge it. bad karma to jump start it, though some have. as far as the idling goes, it sure could be vacuum related but again model specifics helps a lot there.

The clicking sounds could be caused by a weak battery - I had the same effect when the batteries on my sharks went bad. Charging the battery usually fixed this problem, at least temporarily. However, you might also want to check your grounding cables and contacts. If you have an S4 or later model, avoid jump starting the car, as this can damage the engine computer (happened to the PO of my car!
Hope someone can help you with the idle problem. I'm curious to hear more detail about your car's model year, the problem, and the solution.
Good luck!
