Default Latest Speaker Update, Building a MONSTER!

Finally doing the dry fit this weekend. Hooking up wires tomorrow morning. Once it all works and sounds great, it'll come back out to be fine sanded and covered in leather. Also need to finish building a proper amp rack. 3 amps up top run the 15" @ 1800w, Rear 6.5's and tweets @400w and front 6.5's and tweets @ 150w. Amp on front of box between back seats runs the 2x12"s @ 1000w each (2000w total). Alternator rebuilt with a 195 kit and underdrive pulley. Optima Yellow top battery under box. Also have a 30 farad capacitor on the front of the box below the 2000w amp.

Box is 3/4" MDF with 3 coats of fiberglass resin and cloth with one coat of fiberglass jell with a top coat of body filler. Tan paint just for the dry fit as box will be covered with vynil or leather, depending on price. Power comes from the battery by a zero gauge wire through a 200a circuit breaker into the ANL fuse distro box. 2 gauge to the 2 big amps and 4 gauge to the smaller 2. Zero gauge continued to the cap. Distri box and Cap both have digital volt read outs to monitor things at the battery. Rubber truck undercoating spray used on entire trunk area, spare tire well, battery tray and under gas tank/rear end. Final fit will include quick disconnects for all wires to remove entire rear set up in under 30 minutes for race days.

I have a car show at noon tomorrow so this has to go together fast. Should have the leather on in a couple weeks. Still need to measure and order it. Wish I could afford to send it to Paul for some french seam goodness.

heh, do us a favor and get the vid cam for the initial tests. I would really like to see what a 928 hatch looks like as it is blown 20 feet in the air.

Will do. Although blowing rear hatches is somewhat of an urban legend. You need crazy amounts of power in a SEALED vehicle. I'm no where near that level. Strong enough sound waves to blow the rear hatch would make your ear bleed first.
