Default Club Sport Wheel Fitment

Hi 928 owners....

I need your help on wheel fitment for my 1987 944...I recently purchased a set of the rare 928 club sport wheels they are 8X16 fronts and 9X16 rears. I saw the 928 stamp on the back of each club sport wheel. I purchased them for PCA DE's because they are very light weight. Will these be a direct fit on my stock 944 hubs or will I need spacers?

Thanks so much for any input.

Carolyn

At least front wheel ET is probably too large. They will fit in most likely but could possibly use ½" thick spacer at front.

You will probably get better answer from 944 forum if you provide ET numbers there. 8" front is 60mm. Can't recall what rear is for certain but it could be 52.3mm.

Carolyn-

Can't help you with the 944-specific questions, but the 928 CS wheel offsets are 60 mm front, 60 mm rear.

Did you find these wheels locally? I looked for a long time and finally got a set at 928Intl.

Hi Rob,

I actually bought them off a guy here locally who used them on his 944S2 as track wheels but didn't want them anymore so I bought them for $500.00 for the whole set.

He only used them once on the track so they are brand new looking with No curb rash and painted center caps.

I sure hope I don't have a problem with the fronts sticking out too much...I really like these wheels a lot.

Thanks
Carolyn

There are some 944 8 inch CS rims out there....they have 52mm offsets and are stamped as such. The 8 inch 928 CS rims I believe are made from these with 52mm offsets..and just ground down to 60mm....At least that is what it looked like when I had the two side by side. Either way..you got a steal of a deal..and the stickout on your 944 shouldn't be a big deal...heck..you can even run 245's all the way round now..

Good Luck

I know...that's why I snatched them up so quickly. I can turn around and sell them and get more then what I paid. But I want to try them on the track first.

I heard the 8" fronts are hard to find in the 16" club sports...when I turned the wheel around to read the stamped inprint...I couldn't believe I saw stamped 928 8X16...

You win! $500 is a steal. I paid, well, let's just say I coulda had an old 928 for what I paid for mine + reanodizing.

Bolt them on. If they fit an S2 they should go right on your car.

Looks like you were led astray Panzer..those are design 90's..not forged...and only 7.5 in the front (if they were 928 ones)..those design 90s came in 6, 7, and 7.5.. I guess no matter since they are long gone..

later,

Tom, you are correct. Those were design 90's. I have a set of 7.5 fronts and 9 rears Club Sports that I got off an 88 S-4. The fronts are 944 and the rears are 928.

How is it that you are telling design 90's from CS wheels on these pics?
