It's all in the perspective. I know every time I "Invest" in an upgrade, I will never see a return. Add S4 brakes to an OB and the value goes up how much? Zero. Maybe you will get lucky that the potential buyer understands the difference, but it is unlikely it will add to the value. Adding the Hybrid bottom end to my Euro will not increase the value at all, to any but a fellow Rennlister, and even then it will be a fraction of the $$. But it sure is a good investment to me. Honestly I don't think I will every sell the shark. It's like adding a pool to your houes. It will help it sell faster but it will not raise the value. For what I could get, I would rather park the shark in the back yard and let the grass grow up around it first. I haven't lost a penny if I never sell it.

Yet we all continue to upgrade and restore our sharks regardless of the ROI. We do it for fun, as a hobby, and for the internal gratification that we are investing in our own pleasure and satisfaction. When someone comments on my car when out driving, it's priceless.

Many on this site have even started a stable of sharks. Buy one? Nope, they need 3-4 horrible investments to make them happy. I am working a deal on my second shark now, a 93 GTS for $23,000. I know I'll have to dump another $10K into it next year for a car that will be worth $20K by then. But hey, my oldest daughter just got a full boat scolarship form the Airforce!
