Saturday's get together didn't look promising at first, but the weather cleared up and we had a nice brunch, a nice little cruise and an enjoyable afternoon tech session at Adam and Apryl's house in Freehold.
The morning started out rainy, but shortly after I met Adam and Apryl at Kelly's Tavern, we were joined by Dick Bishoff (of the local PCA region) and Art Z (who made the trip down from Hellertown PA!) and the day started looking up.
By the time we left the sun was shining and the roads had already begun to dry. Adam and Apryl led us on a very nice cruise along the beach in Belmar, where we found a few empty spots to park and take a photo or two. The day was beginning to get a little breezy and it really felt like fall as we got back in our cars and drove up to Adam's garage in Freehold.
As we began working on Adam's car (he needed to check his crankshaft endplay after releasing the tension on his flywheel flexplate) Dick left and was replaced by Ed from Manalapan who couldn't make the brunch but wanted to stop by and say hi. The crank endplay was found to be .0075, which is well within the .016 maximum limit of acceptability. Good for another year or so.
The afternoon ended with burgers and brats (and beer) graciously provided by our host and hostess in their secluded and park-like back yard.
Adam later continued to disassemble his exhaust system in preparation of replacing his stock catalytic converters with a set of stainless steel crossovers and high-flow cats. He might have to put the rear muffler back on in place of the RMB he's been using, but either way, he will have added almost 30 hp with the crossovers. (Are you sure you still want to let Apryl drive that car Adam? Better add tires and traffic tickets into the budget
.)
All-in-all it was a great day, with perfect weather and great company. I'd like to thank everyone for making the trip and setting aside the time (especially Art Z who took time away from his wife and kids to come down here for 'car stuff').
Here's looking forward to one or two more GTGs before the weather goes south.

Anthony,
A few of us are hoping to make it sometime on Sunday. If you're there we'll look you up. I noticed that their concourse gives points for mileage to compensate for condition. I think I'd need another 200k miles to put me in the running for anything though
.
Art,
Thanks. It was a great time. Maybe you can show us some of the roads up by you for the next 'fun drive'. As you saw, there are too many lights down here to break things up. We need to see more open roads with maybe a few twisties. I'll try to put it together if you want to lead the way. Interested?
