WTB GTS rods late model revised style only

As the title says I'm after some late model or the revised GTS conrods, or if you have some Oliver Motorsport rods you wish to sell please let me know.

Greg,

I have to imagine that those rods will be hard to come by especially considering the known issues with 92 (ROW) and 93 model years. If they were to come up for sale I would imagine they would cost about the same as a set from Carillo would run.

Perhaps it would be better to go with an aftermarket rod? You would get a new Rod and if you can find one for a chevy that fits, ( not sure how likely that is, probably highly unlikely) then you can pick up rods for about $100 each. If they need to be custom made it would probably cost you under $2000.

Good luck though.

I'm taking apart a '94 engine to build the customer a stroker. He desires to sell the left over pieces. I'll have the crank, rods, and pistons. I'll advise when it is apart. Anyone who needs any of these pieces, send me an email at GregBBRD@aol.com. Make me an offer and I'll forward it to the customer.

Well sh!t,

There you go Greg Grey, so much for having to wait to find some.

I need GTS pistons

I'd be might be interested to buy the crank and rods. Depending on the price of course. I can get a brand new billet crank balanced, polished, drilled and lightweight for $2,500 K and I already have the rods too, so I would be thinking $1,500 would be the abolute max for the crank and rods, that's all it they would be worth to me. I am doing a budget build up of a 2 valver, if they are worth more to others that's fine, please don't be offended. If Heinrich wants to buy the pistons that could be a good deal for the seller. What about a balancer?

Cheers Greg

jim, thanks for the quick reply:) but what do you mean they bend??! under what circumstances? im interested as this might affect my plans to boost the 92 GTS engine i have in my 86.

yes, andrew.. :)

early GTS rods can bend. Mark Anderson said they have seen one engine where the rods were S shaped.

Greg Brown has a box full of bent GTS rods there is a Factory Tech sheet which states that when a GTS engine is taken apart to NEVER re-use the early style rods perhaps someone can scan The Morehouse CDs and post a copy ?

Dr Nick, if you still have the early style rods, stop thrashing the car and drive carefully, they not only bend but break too, that will destroy your engine.

what?! are you guys serious?? does this mean i have to rebuild my GTS engine and put some 5.0 litre rods in there?

adrian928se 07-31-2007 07:21 PM

I've only ever known the early GTS rods to fail in Automatic GTS's, so if anyone knows an early GTS manual engine that has suffered rod failure (excluding 2/6), I'd be very interested to know.
Adrian
