Replace the felt guides immediately! Or recover the old ones. Be careful to to scratch the windows more while doing this kind of work...
If you buy brand new Porsche felt guides, they are so tight that you won't be able to open/close your windows for a couple of days (until they have settled). Ask me how I know...
Best of luck!

Some times it's not the guides fault. I'd suggest you replace the white polyurethane window guides inside the door. These wear out and cause window rattles when the window is partially open. They also allow the felt guides to ruin your new tint job.
While your in there lubricate the window regulator.

well, here's the deal: the window does not rattle around when raised or lowered and all of the rubber and felt around the door/window is new. are you telling me that there is a felt piece inside the door that puts pressure on the inside of the window? not a big deal to retint ($35) but i am damn pissed about having to tear the door apart. thanks nic.

well, in looking back on it, the felt etc was replaced about 4 years ago. nic, are you referring to the long horizontal felt at the base of the window on the inside (basically where one would rest their arm on the door with the window open?) i didn't see anything else on the fiche. i imagine this piece cannot be replaced without tearing the door apart, am i right?

There are two felt-covered blocks mounted under the inside top of the door (where your arm would rest if the window is down. These aren't easily seen, but if you look very near the top of the inside of the window (looking from the outside) using a flashlight, you might can see them.
When the felt gets worn off, and dirt gets caught in the felt and rubber, it will wear two tracks in the inside surface of the window.
You can buy new ones, or you can just buy some felt at a fabric store and recover yours.

thanks wally (i owe you a scotch and soda, 1-day fed-ex, early a.m. delivery of course!), might you have a part number for these? in looking at the fiche, the only two items at the top that resemble anything near as you have described are referred to as "stops", pn 928.537.085.03. is this it?
yeah, there is a scratched area about 2 to 2 1/2" wide at the rear of the window. do you have a price on some replacements?
what kind of adhesive would be used for the self-help method here, 3m trim adhesive (yellow)?
i knew eventually i would have to deal with this issue.

P/N 928.537.085.03 @ $27.50 each. Felt and glue are cheaper.
I would probably use 3M Super Weatherstrip Adesive, but it is really overkill for this application.
