Post Perfomance Clutches

Hello all,

Is anybody aware of a performance clutch set for 928's?

I currently have the twin-disc unit, however I am curious as to what is available in the single disc arena. I did the normal round of Web searching and couldn't find a single performance clutch piece. Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Abdul

One reason might be that you already have a very expensive, high-performance twin-disk clutch.

Hard to beat what you have in there now.

I just finished replacing my twin disk setup with a new factory twin disk setup. I was contemplating converting to the single disk setup (GTS clutch) because I heard about the difficulties in adjusting the twin disk setup. I'm glad I stuck with the twins. After learning the mechanics of the twin disk and how it works I feel it is really superior to the single disk for 2 reasons . (1) There is much more surface area in the twin setup making it easier to modulate. (2) It will transfer a higher touque load. It may be heavier than the single disk which will slow engine response to throttle input, so that may be a downside. Adjusting the intermediate plate is straightfoward (as spelled out in the service manuals), adjust it once prior to assembly (slide the 3 adjusters in the intermediate plate in the direction of the release bearing till it hits the stops) and it is self adjusting afterwords. Good luck!

The twin disk setup is LIGHTER than the single disk setup.
Engine response is better w/ the twin disk.

Well, there you go then. I can't think of a good reason not to use the twin disk setup. The single disk pressure plate must be fairly sizeable if it's heavier than the pressure plate plus intermediate plate of the twin disk setup.
