People in Jeeps are funny…. (Easy Kill Story)
The other night about 10 ish - I was tooling down the main drag at about 35 mph (the posted speed limit BTW) when I see this Jeep coming up on my **** at warp speed! Now I’m in the right hand lane so I figure this guy’ll just go around me. Well he dose but not before trying to crawl up my lower intestine. Then flashes his high beams on me just as he wipes into the left hand lane to pass.
“What a Butt Wipe” I say under my breath…..
Well a couple blocks later I see the Jeep up ahead stopped at a red light. I approach the intersection just as the light turns green and simply roll through the light. But just as I pass him on my left I hear the Jeep un-windings for all he’s got to try & catch me. But I’m in second gear & leave him behind without even trying. Again I never exceed the speed limit.
A block later we come to another red light. While we’re sitting at the light the guy is bugging me lurching his Jeep in an obvious attempt to goat me. Its at this point I’m starting to think that this guy is either drunk or a total retard!
Knowing that I only have to go about a half block to my destination I decide that I’ll give him a show. I didn’t rev the engine & pop the clutch – to do so would have been over kill and cause undue stress on my 30 year old Shark. So instead I put her in first and when the light changes to green I gently roll into the accelerator as I ease off the clutch. To my left the Jeep is has all his little squirrels under the his hood screaming. But even with all that posturing & noise on his part my loyal shark blew his doors off sitting at the light.
Total destruction achieved and I never even broke a sweat or the tires loose. That and I never even exceed the posted speed limit.
I don't for the life of know what this guy was thinking but like I said Jeep folks are funny.

OM gosh. I've had a Dodge Caravan Sport block me on a two lane highway. He was in the passing lane and the other lane was full of random traffic. (not congested but well spaced so that you couldn't pass on the right) He would not move over, once traffic was clear ahead he sped up to 90 and refused to move to the right. Me without a radar detector didn't want to chance having the CHP taking my car away just to pass a dang van. So I'm stuck behind him for 15min!
Gahhhhhh!!!!!!
It's a freaken van! And its american to boot. I'm shocked it could even do that kind of speed.

Oh he's just looking for some interaction. Rev your motor and roll your window down and talk to him, he'll be happy.
-I've flown with a lot of "Jeep guys", and when we trade car talk, and I mention my 928...they all seem to instantly say "I'll beat you to the other side of the intersection!" et cetera. The Jeep vehicles are powered by high-torque engines and are low-geared, so they get the impression that the little truck is fast.

Had the same issue Friday night but with an Audi A4 and a CL Mercedes on the tollway. It was a quick on off the throttle from 80mph and they both backed off. Friday night was a different story with the Ferrari, wasn't about (and likley couldn't) to try and keep up through traffic. Fun once in a while but really not worth the price if caught.

Half the time i think its not "i can beat him" but" nice car man id like to see and hear it" only problem they come on as aggressive. I wish they were more like the kid that dos the "Horn Yank" to truckers in hopes he will blast his airhorn We shouldnt never take it as an insult that someone wants to "race us"
just some are nicer about it then others. bottom line we are in a toy and some wish we would share but know we wont.
Ids say....REV the motor make some noise and give them the "ROCK ON"..sign and roll off the line and smile as they blow past you with all their might and run straight into the fuz

I had the same story, but with a Mitsubishi Montero a while back. Revved incessantly at the light, so I revved back, thinking he wanted to hear the sound of a good V-8. Boy was I wrong, he really wanted to race! He took off as fast as the under-the-hood rodents could move him; I think the extra weight of the six teenagers on board slowed him down. Taking off at a normal rate of speed, I caught up to him, shifted into 2nd, hit the gas and blew by him - barely even exceeding the speed limit of 50!
Good call!

My wife drives a Jeep and does so with abandon...........never tried to race the 928 with it though and she is funny folk.
I'll ponder the question and ask at the appropriate time..........hopefully doesn't cost many brownies points.
