Tick tick/knock knock?
I started my car this afternoon and noticed a tick/knock. I immediatly thought; lifters.
The following is from a past post:
If the ticking eventually went away after startup, I would suggest a lifter is bleeding down. If you have one lifter that is bleeding down when depressed after you shut the engine down. It can bleed off all night, then you get the ticking the next day. You may not hear it for quite a while due to where the motor stops.
I went and got gas and drove around for 15 minuets. The sound was still there. It sounds like a top knock around the valve cover area (lifters I suspect). I don't use the car as a daily driver and had about 4 days since the last start.
She's in the garage now resting. What are the chances that this will improve/get worse by my next start; or after?

Moss-
A friend of mine with an 89 started to experience a knocking sound - obviously concerned him.
He took the car in - discovered it was the air pump making the noise...might be something to investigate - easily done by slipping the belt off.

yep, look elsewhere,a knock not usually associated with a lifter bleed down, especially since 928s have overhead cams.No push rods. After driving 15 minutes should have pump up.
