Gary-
There is an access hole in the front motor cover. Thru this you can insert a 5 (or 6?) mm hex bit and operate the seat manuall to position it properly in the fore-to-aft position that you desire.

Gary-
Opps - my bad. Just re-read - the seat back I suppose is what you're referring to as the upper portion...
In as far as the upper portion is concerned - this is held in place and operated by two pieces of 4 mm square bar stock.
Remove the plastic covers on the back of the seat - you should see a bolt that appears to cover an opening. You can remove the bolt - and then either try to rotate the outer portion of the positioning mechanism. Should this not work for you - you can remove the small phillips screw and rubber waher underneath it and remove the pin. Position the seat back as you need, then reverse the process. Note - it works best to do this with the seat OUT of the car as you wilol have to access both sides - something that you can't physically do with the seat installed.

It turned out the upholstery shop broke the switch when they put the seats back together. Because I did not have time to replace I pulled the wires and was able to adjust the seats using a battery and reversing the polarity to make them go backwards and forwards.
Thanks for the imput.
