Raising rev limit, Lh Jetronic 2.2
Can it be done, I have the later version of the lh 2.2, so I think I would like to get to 6500 6600 rpm before the rev cutout. I will take care of the mechanical side of things, so we wont blow up but those extra revs could be very valuable to me.
Or I have the opportunity to buy some S3 maybe they are called 2.3 LH the computers that came on the 86.5 motor, would that be better, or have they the same rev cutout point? Will both computers need modifying?
Many thanks in advance.
Greg.

O.K the fact that the shark tuner can do it is interesting, I don't want to put a chip in it as I have heard these car make the car run worse. Do you need that latest software on the Sharktuner to do it, that is the version that retunes the 2.2? Or can any sharktuner do it, can I just send my computer away to have it done?

Hello Greg
The SharkTuner can modify the rpm cutout point on a Euro LH2.2 85/86 or a US 85/86.
I would provide a modified chip - you would swap it with the one you have.
But at present we do not support the 84 Euro LH2.2. What is the Porsche part number of your 84 Euro LH ECU ?

Hi John, I have 2 84 models, one is in the Garage the part no for that one is 928 618 123 00 or Bosch number 0 280 002 501 the car outside in the rain, wind and cold, under car cover and blankets I think is different, I think it's number finishes in a 02 from memory? Regardless they interchange.
I have sent you a PM also.
Thanks Greg.

Hello Greg
The 00 is an 84, which we do not support at present (maybe later).
The 02 is 85/86 so that would be OK.
Although they are interchangable in a car, they are rather different inside, which is why we differentiate between 84 (00) and 85/86 (02) for the Euro.
The rev limit options available with the SharkTuner are
6390rpm (stock)
6550
6720
6900
PM sent !

I have a 'spare' LH that I got with the 'spare' 85 EURO Engine I pulled from a wrecked car.
It's number is 928.618.123.03...the Bosch number os 0 280 002 502.
Can you give me some insight on this, as you state that the correct one for an 85/86 is 02??

What makes you think the slope of your horsepower curve is positive near the redline?
Most HP curves I've seen are flat or declining near redline, while the torque is in decline much earlier.
You might end up shifting too late for maximum acceleration and at the same time dramatically reducing the engine life.

The 03 was used in the 85/86 ear;y US 32v. It was then superceded by the 04 late in the life of the 32v.
The 02 is definitely the Euro 16v 1985/6.
It is possible that the wrecked car had been federalised with an O2 loop. The 03 of course has all the components for an O2 loop, the 00 an 02 Euro do not.

Thanks for the explanation. That clears up some stuff for me. I have always wondered why my '85 EURO does NOT have the O2 loop...the LH in her is the 928.618.123.02.
I always carry the ...123.03 box as a spare on trips. How badly would she run if I put it in there without the O2 loop?

Hi Mark,
I don't know how well an 03 would work in a Euro. Let me know ! I expect it would get you home OK :-)
How well did an X pipe work on your Euro ? Do you think it gave a little more power ?

As to the pipe...it's one of Louie's original 'Y' pipes. The ol' assometer tells me it did add some power. I removed the cats and airpump when it was installed, so that could add to the power bump a little, also. The stock cats are pretty good mufflers. Removing them left me with QUITE a sweet BWAAAAH!!!

OK Mark, my Euro has the dual pipe system, so I need an "X".
I'm looking forward to remapping my Euro when we've finished the development of the EZ-F SharkTuner for the 85/86 Euro 16v and early 32v cars. I think there is more power to come due to the conservative igntion maps.
