Shift when you lose torque or justr before you hit the rev limiter, mostly they occur simultaneously.

Usually about 500 rpm before redline, unless I'm about to be embarassed. In that case, see post #2 above.

I'm a slow poke. I rarely rev any gear past 2800 unless I'm merging on the freeway and decide to outrun the existing traffic.

Travis, for our cars, 5700 is about the optimum shift point for max acceleration. Just putzing around surface streets I tend to shift by about 3K.

Advice that is applicable for getting max acceleration from a 32v car does not apply to OBs.

Anders shifts until he hits redline in 5th gear, then no more shifting, just keeping it there .... isn't that right Nicole?

if andrews car didnt have a rev limiter he would be in serious trouble. i think he should get a shift light mounted somewhere discreetly so he dosent scare passengers when it runs into the limiter like a wall!!

It depends on the odds that a police officer is within ear shot of my car at redline. If the odds are in my favor, redline

Remind me to buy you a case of Techron to keep that carbon from building up in your engine

Try to change before you hit the rev limiter; otherwise you lose some fractions of a second

In my country I could break every speed limit (not that I would) in second gear

When Nicole rode with me last week she complained about how uncomfortable it was when I hit rev limiter in top gear since the whole car shook.
