Lobis-
42 on the DFW928 yahoo group list. Quite a few in the Austin area, 3 in Bryan/College Station, Max & Anthony down on the border,.... Michael R & MikeD in Houston (MikeD has the Houston list) and John S. out in the "Windhandle", and Snowball passing through. But we are the Third Coast, so your 'Sharks near the Ocean' assumption holds.

Lobis-
We started talking about just that in another thread (OT, of course!) and John S. (Midland), Max (Far South), MikeD (Baghdad on the Bayou) and ?? are interested. Just posted a pointer to over here. And yes, the San Antonio-Austin corridor/surroundings would be ideal for one. The Hill Country PCA (Austin) just had a bluebonnet tour & have a route laid out for us- I'll check to see if San Antone have done the same.
Cheers,
Donald

Not too soon, guy's.
I cruised up to 'the shop' to see if the post concerning chassis alignment was going to be a problem. Pattycakes was sitting, forlornly, behind the cyclone fence on the hidden side of the shop. Windows open, no sunscreen and a new heat crack on the pod - no biggie, pod was due for repair, the rear quarter hit slowed me down on repair-. But the leather will surely start to bubble or bag in the West Texas sun...
<img src="graemlins/cussing.gif" border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" /> Not to mention sand in great quantities accumulating and drying out the interior.
How friggen rude!
After some pointed, directional, conversation I asked when the completion date was. They said, "three weeks". I pointed out that she's been sitting for one of those 3 weeks already.
I believe they were going to try the old, "No dude! Three weeks from when you started whining, which would be now". Denied! In any case 2 weeks at the earliest. And I still need to put in the new console switches and some minor stuff...
Some day we need to blow thru the mountains above Balmohrea, Davis MTS., Alpine area. Burn some meat, hoist a few, watch the sun set and check out THOSE STARS, man oh man, clouds of stars.
I'm in for whatever as soon as Pattycakes is rolling again and if it doesn't conflict with the sHARKANSAs event.

Hills, a Lake, tall trees, I game <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" />

I hope to be in a position shortly for a road trip to anywhere!

But right now I'm in the same boat as John, maybe worst. At least he can go visit Pancake and whine in person. All my whining is via long distant calls (not real affective either).

Even after I get the 89 back it will take me at least 3-4 weeks to sort her out (wheel bearings, all fluids and filters, brake pads and one year worth of idle electrical system gremlins) before she will be ready for a road trip.

Max

P.S.
It might not be a bad idea to think about making a weekend out of this. For some of us who live a day’s drive, from say Central Texas (Austin) it would be and overnighter anyway. It would also make it more feasible for those living in New Mexico, Oklahoma and Louisiana to join in the fun.

John maybe you need to find another body shop? My dad has had a shop for about 20 years and has never done that to a customers car. I would have been like ok give me my car back now.

Max, John;
My optimal window opens in 4 weeks, ends in 10 weeks (family gone on holiday) with a couple of weeks blocked out at some point. That would be from June 4 to July 17. Absolute best for me is the end of June, that enough time for ya'll to get rolling? If it is let's stab a date & rally round it.

Don,
sHARKANSAs is scheduled for the Fathers Day
weekend, I believe. So, figure June 14, 15, 16th as not possible for me. Narrows things down a little. Agree with Max, we can stay loose as to a week end, if we hard cast this in stone assigning things someone always gets burned. Though finding a motel/hotel between Austin/San Antonio can be difficult during the summer if we could get a count for a rate that would overcome our biggest problem.
I don't think we can get much more than a cruise and a Howdy - Do, and a good look at each others sHARKs in. Though more would be nice it wouldn't be bad for a first. As to a chow gathering I'd settle for a evening BBQ - simple is better burgers, dogs, chili, beans, and brew and the camp fire. We could chip in on site so no one but the meat gets burned. Trying to get donations after the fact can be a pain. BTDT. For me, checking out the different model/years and seeing what - mechanically - is commmon amongst us, problems, cures, and aftermarket has my interest. No matter what, everyone bring some tools and a cheapie multi-meter, jumpers, and maybe we can tinker away at little electrical gremlins etc... That which does not throw a belt and trash our heads only makes us stronger.
Sorry to see Mike D selling his fins, especially before we met and got to see his 87'
all for now,
