Clutch release bearing help!
I'm in the middle of doing an auto-to-manual swap on my '87 S4, and can't figure out the order of the various washers, etc that came with the release bearing.
It looks like it should be: bearing through release arm, thin washer, then toothed ring pressure plate, thick washer and lastly snap-ring. Does that sound right? The thin washer is the one I really can't place...
Thanks!

I just assembled mine last night and the order you mentioned is correct for the twin disk setup. I would guess it would be the same for the single disk setup you are installing but you may want to find out for sure. If the thin washer is beveled with small fingerlike projections pointing towards the center it is installed so the fingers are pointing away from the flywheel. Good luck!

Thanks Paul. I have the toothed/fingered one in that way, but there is a third very thin (in outer diameter AND height) washer that doesn't appear in the twin-disk diagrams. That's the one I can't place. I think it might go on before the fingered one, as it looks as if that one might slip over into the release arm without the thin/small one behind it.
