Is there a link for checking timing belt tension?
I've found several links on replacement, but not on just checking the tension. Which parts have to be removed? I've got the shop mauals on CD, however, they don't seem to specifically address checking the tension.

Try this one.

I know it can be done w/o removeing the radator hoses on an 83, and probably all 16v motors. I know nothing of 32 v. I'm guessing probably, but...
Good luck.

Jim,
Try this site.

Also, If you purchase an after market timing tool from 928 intl or other source, it comes with a brochure which is really good on checking the timing.
I will say this, most official documentation says remove the radiator shroud. Don't do it. Drain the radiator and remove the hoses follow all other directions exactly.
PS Off Topic were you in the service, specifically the Army?

Thanks for all of the tips.
Chris,
I had 2 semesters of ROTC in 1970-1971 and that was the extent of my Army experience. My draft number was over 300, I was a student until the Viet Nam War was over and I had no desire to meet the VC.I did briefly consider Army and Navy schlorship programs, however.
