Default looking for raised hub 928 wheel

I know this is probably a crapshoot, as this is a fairly rare commodity, but I'd like to get the wheel a bit closer to me, and I really like the stock 4 spoke wheel. Anybody have one of the raised hub steering wheels?

Chris - I just replaced mine with a 928 Sport wheel a few weeks back. Could send you pictures if you wanted to see them - it's in good shape.

My 930 wheel came with a hub extension. Great modification and excellent geometry improvements. I recommend it, highly. Pretty much all the usual suspects have them. My particular one came from AJ USA.

Here is a picture.

Troy - PM sent.

Gretch - I remember you've mentioned the extension and how much you like it. Call me a purist - if it's a wheel, I like them stock - 4 spoke or flat dish. But I'll keep this in mind, so thanks for mentioning that these have the extended hub!

We have several stock raised hub wheels in stock. What color are you looking for?

Any 3-spokes in black?

Has anyone transferred the extended hub part to a non-extended wheel? If so, I would be interested in the rattiest extended hub wheel
Any color

I transferred the extended hub from an S4 wheel to a smaller 944 4 spoke wheel. That particular swap was a bit of work, the 944 had different splines, I wound up drilling the rivets out below the horn button and using the entire S4 'snout' and cover. It's a great improvement and having the crash structure of the 928 snout still intact is nice.

What S4 wheel did the hub come from? My 944S has a 4-spoke wheel (wth an extended hub) that looks like a 928 wheel. I have no plans of taking that one apart, just curious.

I have a 928 wheel with a hub on it, thinking about moving the hub to the OB 3-spoke wheel. I also need another extended hub for my track car.

That was an early 87. I don't know what MYs have what spline size but a non-airbag (unkown year) 944 wheel has a smaller spline than the 87 S4. The extended hub portion does come off the S4 with 3 screws but in my case it wouldn't bolt on the 944 wheel. I suppose it's possible for you to have compatible parts and an easy swap, if the wheel snout has 3 threaded holes compatable with the extended hub than it should be easy.

Cool, thanks Mike. I'll be taking my wheel apart soon!

Kind of a shame since the steering wheel JE sold me with the hub is 100% new.

I have never seen a raised hub 3 spoke but I do have some raised hub 4 spokes for $50. The leather is not pretty but they would be good to either recover or steal the hub off.

Cool, thanks Mark. I'll try to do the swap this weekend with my wheel. If it works (and I don't destroy anything) I'll take one of the $50 wheels.
