Default 1988 S4 Manual, $16K Libertyville IL

No association, I just went to take a look at this car saturday:

http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...eadExists=true

Overall, a nice looking car. Inside is in excellent shape - no cracks on dash or pods, window/sunroof buttons work great and are barely worn. Leather is in great shape, has the rear hatch cover, netting, and even the original air compressor. No rub strips. Exterior looks nice, but it looks like it was in a rear end accident. Repairs look good, but some moderate orange peel on the back half of the car. Has one of those attached bras on the front, still in decent shape. Has the undertray

Has Bilstein shocks, not sure on the spring. Ride is firm. Has RMB but didn't look like an X pipe. MM's are shot, clutch friction plate seemed a little rough. AC blows cold, but only when set to coldest setting, so something is amiss with temp sensor. Idle was high once the car was warmed up. hatch release inop on driver side, receiver doesn't let go of hatch from the working passenger release.

I didn't write done the option codes, but it has 12 way power memory seats on both sides, so it has the positrol passenger option. Has rear a/c. Aftermarket blaupunkt stereo of unknown vintage, but not recent. Shifter/syncros seem fine, no problem engaging any gears.

Car drives fine, pulls strong, verified the flappy works. Not a great deal for the listed price, but I'm the 2nd prospective this weekend to pass, so they may start getting ready to bargain. This car isn't a color I was looking for, I was not impressed with the ride, and don't feel like dealing with an idle issue very much, but I seriously gave it some thought. Dealer says they have some records, and the TB was changed recently.

On novel thing was that the chrome dish wheels were blacked out on the inside. I didn't notice it at first, but it looked sharp, along with the tinted windows.

Anyway, this might be up somebody's alley looking for a decent manual without rub-strips.

did it have a limited slip? Option code 220. Even rough, it would looks like a good one to start with.

The Supercharger in NC for $17.5 same year, manual with LSD sounds much better :-)
