"I drove the car approximately 10,000 miles in the last 2 ½ years"

There most be some type of history going on during the 2 1/2 year of ownership. Also why selling such a high end car without cleaning the interior. I got an email from him stating the seats are in excellent condition but that he was not able to get a pic of them. I don't know, but someone selling a car ought to have access to take some pictures, don't you all think so? I hope this car goes to a rennlister.
Having it in the Rennlist community would be a great victory indeed. I'm not sure myself why we didn't get a 2 1/2 year history report either. I also directed him (Owner Peter Hartwig) to Rennlist and the 928 Registry but you saw the short reply I got from him.

Maybe he's just one very busy guy...dunno.

It probably needs some serious TLC.
But it is a cool car, and it would be cool if it could get a new lease on life.
Hopefully the price will drop to a reasonable level, so someone can afford to really restore it.
Replace the interior, new wheels, tires, and fix all the issues...
I'm sure the electrical system on the interior of the car is not too happy
with all the exposure to the elements...

I also directed him to visit us here. I offered my SC as a swap but he is not interested in a trade

Oh well, I would not even be able to afford getting new tires for that car, lol.

Now if anyone wants to buy my SC in the next 3 days, PM me.

I looked up the rear tires on TireRack.com...

345/35ZR15
Only Pirelli P-Zeros, at $500 each.

Ouch!

If someone wanted to go to a larger rim, there are also 335/35ZR17 available...

Also $500 per tire...

It's funny how fingers point to me when a 928 convertiblet comes up fpr sale...wonder why that is? All I did was buy a project convertible a year or two ago and I somehow ended up as the convertible rescue farm. You don't see Scott or Dan or even Randy's name get tossed out there. Hmmmm

I like the looks of this car, but it is TOO much. I would consider it for the price it currently sits at, but my intentions are to build a better one...and better looking! There is a great mystique to the 928 convertibles and they are far and few between.

A well maintained car in all manners will almost always have a very long list and description of what has been done over the years, including records. It just shows pride of ownership. I am always suspect of the brief descriptions in these auctions or "this little item doesn't work, but it never botherd me" for example. Arizona heat is similar to Hell's heat...the interior is baked! That doesn't mean it had been left in the sun for years, but it does mean the interior has not been maintained to deal with the occasional driving and parking in the sun. You can bet the paint has been baked also and has been maintained in the same fashion. Fiberglass is NOT a long term product...especially on a car. I will bet that there are cracks all around this car.

My point is/was to just make whom ever is interested, aware that this car is going to need lot's of work if you want it right or it will just fall apart in the manner it is now headed. Just my guess!

Allright Keith, that's it...now you're getting personal...

You know hell's heat is a LOT hotter than Arizona... even though it was 99 degrees already last weekend...

I want this car. Problem is, my wife doesn't..... But honey, it won't cost much to rescue it. Never mind the $8-10k on interior leather from Paul or Rob, the $10000 paint job (inside, outside and underside), the $7500 engine rebuild, the $5k suspension, the $4500 brakes/rotors and the various insundry nuts bolts and bushings. Now add headers and a full exhaust at ~$4000 custom exhaust - gotta sound good. Now, for wheels and tires your looking at $10k just to get them to fill out the wheel wells. Probably have to redo the top at $5k. You'l also need a kick *** stereo so spend another $10k on a decent unit. Now, who here is going to spend $65k large rescuing this car plus the cost of the car. I would do it in a miniute but my wife is the problem.

My wife's response: I like the house in the background and the car has a crack on it!

That was all!

Trust me, I've been eyeballing it for days....

Showed my GF and she said, "are the blinds on the outside of the windows on the house?". Go figure.
