Hey guys, after all of this time, I'm finally getting on the home stretch of my race car. I need some help, though. I thought I taught myself how to read wiring diagrams, but these are pretty confusing. On my 86, they ignition switch is broken and I have a universal starter button and ignition switch left over from a previous car that I am going to install. All I really need to know is what each of the wires on the back of the ignition switch correspond to, but I am having a tough time understanding the wiring diagram for this car. It is an '86 5 speed. If anyone can tell me what color goes to what, and when it is switched, I would greatly appreciate it.
Reds are battery in (30)
Blacks are Ignition out (15) (on in position 2 & 3 only)
Yellow is Starter(relay)(50) (on in positions 3 only)
Black/Yellows are Accessories(X) (on in positions 1 & 2 only)
Red/Black(thick) is Radio Supply (on in Positions 1,2,3)
Red/Black(thin) is power in (30) to key-in switch
Grey is Off (on in Position 0 - key in or out)
Black/Red is key-in switch output(*) (on when key is in)
Switch Position

0 Inserted only
1 Accesssory Only
2 Ignition
3 Starter

What exactly do these three wires send power to? I'm a bit confused as to what the function is.
The Grey (off switch) is used to power the parking lights controlled by the turn signals.
The Black/Red is used for several things - it initiates a timer used for the seatbelt warning and is used to sound the chime if you open the door with the keys left in the ignition.
The Red/Black is just the power supply from the battery for this special switch.
I'm doing this now on my race car, so from Alan's post attached, I'll connect my switches as-follows to a normal two pole master switch:
Red & Red (30) to lower leg of master switch
Black and black (15) to upper leg of master switch
Black and yellow (x) to upper leg of master switch
Starter button will be wired as follows:
New wire from the upper leg of master switch
Connect to yellow wire that feeds the starter relay
None of the other switch wires were connected on my running racer so I'm ignoring them/removing them.
Sound right? What threw me off is that there's no grounds in the switch, just connecting constant powers to make switched powers plus the starter.

Wanted to bump this and say thanks. My Coke car was having some issues where the ignition would cut out occasionally in mid-corner. There were also a couple times when I would turn the key and nothing would happen. No relay click, no lights, nothing. So I'm 99% sure it was the ignition switch.
I added this switch setup for $20. Works great. And as you can see it's for "Racing use only!" LOL!
That the one from Superbright LED's or Fleabay of whatever? I see them around a lot, and wondered as to their quality. S-I-L wants one for his car that has a seriously messed up ignition switch.
