I think it would be the only one on the island... but maybe not, a lot has changed. It surprises me that you bought an automatic, not very common in Europe.

Actually I was trying to buy a manual gear 928. It could be a S4. That was my initial target. But that is very difficult to find. And the ones for sale are always in bad conditions or with too much km. All I saw or talked to the owners had changed engines. This is not hard to imagine since so few were built and so few people can handle correctly 330hp with manual gears without making mistakes. Normally mistakes that destroy the engine.

This GTS was quite a good find. It looks very neat and well taken care. Up to now no problems. It was a more careful decision.

I think you made a good decision... I'd rather have a nice automatic than a not so nice manual. It's just so rare to see an automatic in Europe... they are not very popular like they are here in the states. I'd love to drive that car. For some reason, European cars seem so much more powerful than US cars. I had a BMW 318 in France and a 2.0 liter Alpha Romeo in Itally that both were so much quicker than a 325 I had here in the states with a larger engine. Perhaps it's weight, or emmisions or fuel but cars always seem quicker there. Enjoy your ride and get some pictures posted.

By the way, has the Escudo to Euro conversion been as problematic on the mainland as it has been in the islands?

Shoulda done what I did and spend next to nothing for your shark, then get nickel and dimed on parts! It's a slower and more painful death, but so much more satisfying.

Ain't that the truth! Some lessons are hard learned but the urge remains when I see a cheap shark... Good taste but dense as all get-out.

Marquito - I'm afraid our location wasn't so glamorous being work related. We were in Cherbourg (spelling ???) a few hours out of Paris towards Mt. St. Michel. Beautiful country and nice people, at least they were away from Paris- SOME Parisiens were rather deserving of the stigma in my view.

We travelled through France, stopped in Paris for four days (I love that town, not the guys that live there. In fact I think there are French and Parisians. And that’s not the same). Then we drove south, visit the Loire and the Chambord Chateux. From there to the “Circle the Gavernie” on the Pyrenees. Beautiful place. To finish Spain and one day at Zaragoza.

The change for the Euro is a big issue. I’m for it. Portugal is completely different after the EC and Euro. Most things are more expensive now. But there are more opportunities. It’s a time of change. And as always when there are changes there are problems and people that don’t agree.
