If someone could find it in black and white I would buy enough to do a car. No current project but I would buy it just to put away for some future retro-ride OB project. Maybe even my 80 euro S...

Count me in

I did some research and found the following.
To get it woven by a fabric mill would require 200 yard minimum. Then there's design and set up fees unless we find the original mill overseas. If we go overseas, we get into higher costs and import duties.
I estimate about a $10k investment by the time its all done.

Another alternative is digital printing. The fabric would have to be a without pile like 10 oz canvas or 12 oz denim.
Costs are design & digitize pattern, set up & minimum order of 25 yards. Total about $3K

Another option is screen printing. Design & set up fees and a 2,000 yard minimum. Total about $18K

If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll get more details. The minimum would be about $500 for the digital printing process.

200 yards is good for 40 full 928s - front & rear. That pencils out to a production cost of $250 per vehicle, plus whatever design & setup fees spread across those 40 vehicles. That's cheap, which you know already if you've shopped for the remaining original stuff.

Or, put another way, 10-15 928's would cover the costs at prices cometitive with Stizklinik, and there'd be enough for 25-30 more full 928's for some entreprenuer to make a profit on. Stitzklinik quotes 179 euro per seat. Current exchange rate is about 1.3 dollars per euro. Sitzklinik says that you need 5 yards for the whole car, so 179 euro x 4 seats = 716 euro * $1.3 = 930 dollars / 5 yards = 186 dollars per yard at Sitzklink. Your quote above comes to $50 per yard. Like I said, cheap!

To be clear, its an estimate, not a quote. And its only for the pascha material. The other factors, remaining material(leather or whatever), installation etc should be considered. Then there's color. The 200 yds. would be of one color only.

I think the issue is that Stitzklinik or anyone else doesn't have the black and white pascha material. If they did, just pay the $500 to Stitzklinik and get the material.

Yes, I understand the estimate part. Apologies for the wrong term.

Also that this is just one color. If there were some entreprenuer out there that wanted to tackle this, the black/white would move the quickest, but the more unusual colors would probably command an even higher premium.

Other expenses aren't relevent to the discussion because this is just an estimate
Any other options - such as original material - would require leather/vinyl, installation, etc. Cost of material is the only thing relevent here unless for some reason new material would require something special the original material wouldn't. Sitzklinik's numbers were for material only as well. Whole cloth, not a kit.

I'll put in for my 5 yards of b/w. How many of us does that make?

What about CAD weaving? I remember being in some fancy design center where they could have any pattern, even a photo woven.

A general link follows, but could be totally wrong direction.

Its my understanding that most mills are using a CAD system in design and manufacturing.
Its not a question of capability. Its a question of time and cost in pursuing this endeavor.

Count me in for enough to do a complete interior (plus a bit extra...just in case).

What's wrong with you all..lol.

That stuff is SO seventies...the kind of interior you'd look at under a strobelight after taking some LSD or something.
