Default worn cam bearings?

how likely is it to wear out cam bearings if belt tension is very high on 87 32v motor? hear noise from what sound like heads, upon reving engine noise stopped but came back at idle. backed some tension off no longer herd noise
but didnt run car long because i didnt know how much tension was left took cover off and use porken tensioner and has still way over his recomened tension (almost full deflection). so what yea think, did i mess up my bearings or do you think everything will be ok? by the way i did run it like that for a month or too

More likely water pump if overtensioned for an extended period. If heads - worn chain tensioner pads?

Hey Ken since your here, what is the best timing advance for an 87s4? I read somewhere that it was 3* and they gain 50 hp on a supercharged engine. also i dont want to take covers off and dial cams before using your tool so how close is the cam tool? what ever i set timing at ill spin engine by hand a couple of times to make sure valves are clearing.
