When I took delivery of my GTS it arrived with a beautiful 427 side oiler Cobra and a ZR1. I forget the year but it was the last year made. It was white with red interior and had 5500 original miles on it. It was parked behind my car and had to be moved first. When we started it she blew smoke like crazy. It creaked and made al sorts of noises coming off the ramps. It was almost out of gas so the driver asked if there was a place to put a few gallons in it. I asked if I could come along so we took it for a short drive and I was surprised how plastic it was making all sorts of noises and the dash OMG. Power felt similar to the GTS and the brakes squeeled but stopped quickly. When we went over some bumps it skipped and bounced like my pickup. The divers opinion is he would give me 2 ZR1's for one GTS. Wish I could have taken it for a spin but it wasn't my car.

My C4 vette has rattles and noises too. Not nearly the fit and finish of my 911 or the 928 I sold. It is a fun car to drive, and easier to maintain than a 928, but there's a reason vettes cost a fraction of the world-class cars they compete with.

IMO, the vette frame and drivetrain are outstanding. Everything else that is tacked to the to top if this performance platform was done in the most economical fashion possible. That's not a bad thing since it keeps the price point low, but it rattles going down the road. As Panzer9 said riding in my vette sounds like "rolling down the road in a trash can" even though he is impressed with the performance.

After catching my 928 on fire, I'm not sure I should buy another one during this frenzied stage of my life. I like low maintenance driver's cars with some patina so I can park them anywhere and get a quick adrenalyn rush when I have a 1/2 hour for a country drive near home. Both my 911 and my vette endure this kind of work out regularly, and today is no exception.

when I got our first sports car we got the 2001 z06 and after 1 1\2 years I had to get my dream car the 93 gts.....Rides better, doesn't creak, no loud booming road noise like the vette ..My wife still drives the vette but I love my gts and it is exclusive. No one hardly knows what it is or how old it is......

For a drivers car, get the 928, for a collectors car get the ZR1
