Any one tried these led lights out yet?
An ebay find, looks worth trying for the price. Just wondering if they are more white than blue, pics are hard to tell.

It doesn't look to me like a "exact" direct fit type replacement, but a thing you might be able to use with two sided sticky tape. I intend to let the LED stuff cook a bit more before I jump in too deep.

I haven't tried the one shown. I will tell you what I have done. I bought 42mm 6 LED festoons from superbrightleds.com for the interior lights. They fit perfectly but I thought they were too dim. So I bought 44mm 9 LED festoons. Some thought they would be too long, but they fit fine. They are great except I would like the front overhead to be brighter still. The one you are showing could be perfect in that regard.
I have ordered but not received one that should be brighter than 9 LED festoon.

Superbrightleds' 30mm 9 LED festoon is perfect for the glovebox light. Note that the LED lights have a polarity. If they don't light, reverse it in the housing.
So, anyway, my set up is
44mm 9 LED festoons in the doors, rear hatch and rear overhead.
30 mm 9 LED festoon in glovebox
42mm 2 HP LED festoon in the front overhead (yet to see if it really is brighter than the 44mm 9 LED festoon)
The white LEDs throw a very cold white, towards the blue end, like HID headlamps. I think it really updates the car.
The white LEDs compliment the electroluminescent sill plate light which throws a similar heat range of light.

44mm 9 LED:
30mm 9 LED for glovebox:
They are on this page at superbrightleds.com about 2/3rds of the way down:
http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b....15363&next=50
Note that at the bottom of that page, superbrightleds sells a 12-LED kit almost identical to the one in the original post on this thread. That may be a good alternative for the front overhead, but I think the far cheaper 9-LED festoons are fine for all the other interior lights and cheaper the 2-HP LED may end up being good for the front overhead.

BB,
I have the 2 HP 42mm led in the door light.
It's bright when it works. Seems I'm having power problems that don't always light
up the LED. I've tried De-Oxit on the connection and it's still flakey.
It's throws a nice bluish light that lights up the floor area well.
If I can only figure out if it's low volts that's not firing up the LED's or something else.
Think these are what I have.

My door lights just don't like LED's. Can't even get the passenger door light to light up ANY LED's at all.
Maybe an inconsistent door switch. Last time I pulled the door switch it was a pain since it's such a tight space to work in. 8mm socket or click wrench to get that sucker out I think.
I've got an old red LED in the front overhead light so I didn't try the 2 HP LED in there.
TerraP's flat cluster LED's might work if the cluster can be taped onto the interior light lens.
That's a good use for burnt out incandescent interior light bulbs for those DIY LED experimenters.
Ernest (NYC) LED and incandescent mix. HID fogs.

I received the 2-HP LED 42mm festoon. It's perfect for the front overhead light - brighter than the 9-LED festoon. No problem with firing it up. Just remember they are polar. They won't light if reversed. It's 50-50 trial and error to get them in the right way. Anyway, this is the one I got, same as Ern mentions.

I don't think the door lights need one this bright, but they would throw a lot of light if you did them throughout the interior.

Just a quick bump....Bill, what's your verdict on the new overhead light? I just got my 44mm 9 festoons in, and have some installed-the overhead is a little dim.
Also, what is the trick to getting the door lights out? I fot the life of me can't get the buggers out. I've tried pushing toward the rear extreme which it seems to want to do, but can't clear the tab at the front. What's the trick before I break something?

Hey Ed,
Regarding door light removal, there's a metal spring clip on the leading edge; you'll notice a notch in the lens cover at that end. Insert a small flathead screwdriver and pry the light housing towards the rear of the car and up. It should pop up pretty easily.

ED:
The 9-LED was too dim for the front overhead if you want to use it to read anything. In one of the posts above you can see I went with another festoon that has 2 high power LEDs, and it is fine. Yes, the white light is cold. I suppose the other colors like red and blue are fun and will allow you to see the entrance. The overhead light used to be used for map reading, so white seems better, but who does that anymore? Anyway, I'm happy with the white LEDs, the 9 small LED 44mm (42 would be OK) festoons in the doors, rear and center overhead, and the 2-HP LED 42mm festoon in the front overhead and a 9 LED 30mm festoon for the glovebox.

Thanks Bill, I totally missed your report on results of the 42mm 2HP bulb, I just ordered one. I only got 5 of the 44mm/9 festoons pending the outcome of ths, so I'll be set now.
