gasket - worst luck
well, today i decided to change the oil.... i need someone to help me understand how the following could happen. Drained the old oil out (black - it definately needed replacing), replaced the filter (filled new filter with oil before i installed it), then put 9 quarts of mobile 1 0w40, made sure it was at the full mark), started it up and ran fine for about 5 minutes, then it started smoking alot. pulled the dipstick out to check it again, and there i saw foamy WHITE WHITE WHITE. how in the heck would an oil change do that? right away i think headgasket, but is there another route that oil and coolent can mix?
if it is the headgasket, it must be an internal break, cause it's not dripping down the the floor.
btw, anyone know cheapest place to buy new headgaskets?
thanks in advance....

Also Juvius, check to make sure the bottom of the dipstick handle isn't broken and able to slide along the metal shaft. Mine cracked right above the o-ring gasket on the handle, then slipped down the measuring shaft when I pulled it out. I didn't notice this, and when I reinserted it into the tube, the lower position of the broken piece prevented the dipstick from seating all the way in, so the measurement was reading lower than it actually was.
I hope that make sense to you. A pic is worth a thousand words, but the car is off in storage, so that aint gonna happen. Sorry.

if i overfilled, would that cause this problem? and is there a way certain way to take car of it, or would i simply have to drain the coolant and replace and the oil and replace to correct level?
