My Car is So Close I Can Feel It
I just got a message from the shippers looking to schedule a delivery. I haven't been able to get ahold of them, so I don't know if that means they want to schedule it today, tomorrow or two weeks from now.
My black/black 86.5 5-speed (formerly Stan Shaw's) is close, though. I can't wait to get it, open it up and find out what needs to be done and then get to work.
Now, if only 928 Specialists can get me the parts I ordered almost three weeks ago... Anyone else waiting on the tension tool or WP?
Matt

Matt,
Congrats and good luck. I always liked the black/black combo.
I had a little bit of a wait for both recently as well. They eventually came through though. Hang in there.

Tis the season. I'm sure they are filling lots of Christams orders these days. Good luck with the car. I was seriously thinking about buying that one. You beat me to it. Thanks for saving me from myself. LOL. Enjoy it.

Given the road conditions, I'm glad I spent the extra $50 to ensure an upper berth for the journey.

Which shipper are you using? I'm interested in your experience.

I really don't have enough experience with them to say they are great or lousy, but I was satisfied with them on the Falcon. For higher end cars, I would probably shop around for somoene who deals more with exotics and would minimize transfer of the car at terminals. For this car, they said it would arrive around the 4th, and it's arriving on the 5th. Stan dropped it off in Connecticut on 11/17. It went from CT to NJ to PA to OH to here. No idea if it changed trucks at each terminal.
Their damage policy stinks. Even if they are at fault, they won't pay more than $250 for damage. I just made sure my insurance would cover me, but if you want their $50,000 coverage, it's a ridiculous $199.
For this car, from CT to Colorado was $810 for not-enclosed, standard service from their CT terminal to the Denver terminal. It was an additional $126 to have them deliver by flatbed to my house. And $50 more to guarantee an upper berth for the entire trip. Total $986. I priced a car out of CA and it would have been $450 to CO.
Oh, and for the record, my TB is at least 10 years old so I decided to take the gamble that it could handle the loading and unloading at terminals. Looks like I was right... this time.

Aren't the Kempf tools still on backorder? Yell if you're desparate and I'll priority mail mine to you. I just did my 1500 mile retension so I'm good for a little while. You can bring it back at the end of the month!

Matt,
Let us know how the car looks when you get it. Long distance shipping is an issue that comes up over and over, so please post the resolution so it can be used as a reference in the future (and pix of the new shark).
I wasn't very lucky with my initial delivery. I can't go into details because I'm still in litigation over it (court next Wednesday am ). Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't .
