The devil at a car dealership is called flooring, its the interest cost per month they pay on the inventory they have. This 928 would also be a risky car to finance, the wrong owner could easily reduce the value very quickly and leave the finance company holding the bag and they don't like that much.

Its not a car that interests me directly, not for me to own, or as an investment. I just hope it finds a good owner and makes them happy.

A great guy from Fairfield, CT. Don't think he's on Rennlist. He has 3 other Porsches including an 88 S4. He loved the car when he saw it for the first time this past Saturday.

Well guys this is sure to just set all of you a blaze, but I saw the sucker within 15 minutes of it hitting Cars.com, I was on it, I am holding 5 Porsches right now,and I don't want to get divorced and so it is going to Willhoit. It is a real car, and when this happens it is just the first person there wins and it couldn't have been any of you... So don't go writing all kinds of crap about Willhoit when you see it on his site, he makes all of the cars worth more. Simply put it could have been any of you, so nothing bad should be said about it.. fair is fair, and we were the ones who got the deal done. I am sure I will see some anti capitalistic thread start the second it hits his site, but what will be is what will be. Let's face it, this what Willhoit does for a living, I am a Real Estate Broker who dabbles, chances are if there was a collector Porsche in my neighbors garage down the street, he would have it bought before I knew it was for sale.

Your paragraph is tough to comprehend and seems to conflict with other posts here as do they with the sales peoples accounts to me.

You seem to be saying the pro's, you and wilhoit, had it bought before anyone here could have.

1 salesmen told it me it had already shipped.

Anyways I think such a low miles example in red will be advertised by W at 49K.

I heard from Willhoit this afternoon that the car is ours, and I am sorry for what someone may tell you , I guess if Michael is lying to me I will find out soon, but he has no reason to lie.. So we will just see, there was a lot of hub bub on the car, but we got the call today that it is ours... So how about this, I will be the first one to slam him if he is lying to me, if not then I guess my account is true, it was not a simple deal, and there was a bit of a bidding war...

First off, let me be the first to say a big THANK YOU for letting us fellow 928 enthusiasts know of such a good deal when you first SAW IT... by posting it here on Rennlist. I’m just glad that someone other than AN owner/enthusiasts was able to buy it with the intention of making a substantial profit on it :icon107:

However…if what you say is true, I certainly would not pay Wilhoit or any dealer, or for that matter anyone period, what I expect in this case will be a huge markup :soapbox: on a car that I saw for sale earlier at a lower price.

First , this is what makes this board fun, second if you will read the list of things I have owned, I think I qualify as an enthusiast, I would keep the car, but my wife is at here limit with the cars, so hence it gets sold.. Sorry for your sour grapes towards specialist dealers and apparently Real Estate brokers too, but am I proud to be in my profession and I am sure you are proud of what you do also, so lets not slam each other, the purpose for my posting was simply to let you know of the deal since there was like 1500 views on this post, period. I was dead serious about getting the car. The only reason why I only put $3k down Saturday on my CC was they said it would cost them more by putting it all on CC. I immediately moved some fund around on Monday had it cleared today and was off to the bank to do the wire transfer when the guy above the saleman and I got into the "discussion" over $300.

They did say that a car dealer offered them $27k also. I assumed in this case it's Willhoit.

Like I said, I don't need the car and I wasn't into it to make money. Again, maybe I'm stupid but you got to stand behind your words. At least I do anyway.

I'm guessing you bought the car with the intentions of turning it over for a profit by selling it, which appears to be Whilloit who will again, sell it at an additional markup...and, that's probably why you didn't want to bother any of us in the first place when you saw the car by posting it here on Rennlist for someone else, whom may have wanted a nice low priced example?

That's all fine. But you can't expect us to share in your enthusiasm as you turn a profit. Most of us here on this forum would have posted this great find for someone who wants to own a nice example.

And I'm not slamming Realestate brokers as you noticed the razz face I included. Although I have to say, Alaskan's have a high rate of FBO as they simply file the paper work themselve's and save on the commission.

So again, you haven't botherd us now and you certainly didn't bother us initially either with the find. And I didn't imply you were not an owner/enthusiasts, the dealers are not.

Most true shark enthusiasts here probably can’t afford what Willhoit will re-sell that car for if that is what’s happening. And I know a few here on these forums that have been seriously looking.

I think we should all be happy we have Porsches, and hopefully will always, and that boards like this allow us all to discuss it anytime we want.. I am a loyal Rennlister and I just enjoy the cars. Driving them , selling them, owning them period. That's all nothing more, nothing less.

What you’ve done is price this nice example out of the hands of many that would have really enjoyed it for many years of doting ownership. Time will tell.

I think if you were a true and loyal Rennlister, you would of thought of the Rennlisters first...but...whatever.

What is wrong with me? My original reaction was "oh ****, 23k screws up the value of our cars" Then I see Wilhoit and I think "Whew, that should help values". Am I selfish for not feeling bad that a fellow Rennlister might not make a much better buy than I have? Or am I just being normal, wanting to see values of something I might have to sell being supported in a vigorous market place.

Old owner gets screwed, new owner gets screwed, but both of them are happy about it so who cares. ;)

Nobody here is really suffering for lack of a better Porsche, so who gets it isn't that big of a deal IMHO. Maybe the thing to do on the next car like this is whoever gets a deposit in first works out a hand off to somebody else if they decide they don't want it themselves.
