Mark,
The CVA-1000 is a nice unit, i actually just installed one in my 928 to control the alarm (the cva1000 was one of only two alpine headunits that could interface with the sea-8081 alarm system). This unit is navigation capabably, but does not do anything wihout the matching navigation box. This unit is early ai-net, and not compatible with XM, Sirius, iPod.... etc. Also, if anyone is interested, the maching nav unit for this head is model number: NAV-N751A. It is the old cd-rom based player, so you have region specific map CD's, not entire country discs as you do with DVD nav systems. A great piece in its time, but the only thing i am using mine for now, is an alarm interface. If anyone needs any more information on this unit, feel free to contact me. I am an avid car audio collector.
Thanks
Hans
