Default MAF sensor removal.

I'm trying to figure out how to remove the MAF sensor, and not having much success finding out how. Any help would be much appreciated.

Just loosen the top clamp to remove the bottom of the air filter housing then do the same with the bottom clamp of the MAF and the MAF will slide out. Once it's out remove the connector and that's it.

1. remove airbox
2. wiggle MAF out

That's about it.

Thanks a bunch, I figured it was probably one of those things "so simple there are no instructions for it"!

My MAF is secured to the throttle assembly with a hose clamp; PITA to get to but once loose out pops the MAF. Once off, cover the housing so nothing falls in there.

Do yourself a favor and get a flexible 3/8 extension about 8-10 inches long. An 8mm socket on the end for the hose clamp that holds the MAF on. It's a tight work area but the flex extension makes it a piece of cake.

and don't beat up on the connector or cable when you remove the MAF. There is a thin wire spring clip that locks the two connector halfs in place.....take your time and go about getting the connector apart gently.

IIRC the size on the clamp is 7mm. A ring spanner is a good way to know you are on the head of the clip.

Tie a piece of string on the other end of the spanner, in case you drop it under the manifold.

You only need to under the clip 1 turn or so, then twist the MAF slightly to break the seal between the rubber elbow and the MAF body, and it will come out.

It 's described in here : - http://www.jdsporsche.com/faq.html
