Default Best Heater Ever!

I gotta say... I've never owned a car that heats up in the winter as quickly as a 928. The early mornings are below freezing here now, but within one mile of home, the interior is toasty and comfortable.

No other car I've ever owned would ever do that. Amazing.

Hmmm... Then you should try my Saab. It warms up in a fraction of the distance the 928 takes. Besides, my Saab has heated seats, which the 928 doesn't. Maybe I need a hot driver or passenger in my 928 to make up for its deficits?

Seriously, both are pretty good, though. For about 8 years of my life I've owned a Renault Fuego with a virtually non-existing heater. Maybe, if you were lucky, after a few miles you'd get something above freezing temperature, but once you passed 90mph it was down to freezing again. I loved that car in many ways, but the heater was the ultimate reason to upgrade to an 86 Mazda RX-7.

I agree, living in the NE is pretty cold. For the past 14 years I hate putting my shark up for winter and dealing with good heat versus a heater that can fry eggs !!!

Yes, the 928 heats up the cabin quickly - and evenly, signs of a great HVAC system.
I never thought it would be matched, but on a couple of recent chilly mornings, the heat on the C4S has been nearly instant. Perhaps I forgot to add the 16l of antifreeze ...

Nicole, maybe you should buy a 928 with heated seats then.

I have one for sale.

My new Audi, on the other hand, takes forever to warm up the cabin. I just leave the system in the "auto" mode, and maybe that's a mistake on my part... But it sure takes a long time for the heater to decide it should wake up and go to work.

Whitefox says what I was thinking. Bigs: I owned a fleet of F100 trucks and before I got to the end of my driveway it was warm. The 5.7-litre Bronco takes almost 5 minutes to even begin feeling luke warm.

IF YOU WANT IMMEDIATE KILLER HEAT
Try an aircooled car. The 911 .... turn the key, have instant heat. So hot it will BURN your feet. I mean it.

Or you could get an old VW Bug - now that had some... nevermind.

For water cooled cars it is hard to beat a Volvo or a Saab for the heaters.

Old air cooled car down hill all the way, no heat.

Heated seats will spoil you, until you have them you never know you need them.

I have a '96 900, that gen of Saabs have *amazing* climate control. Other than occaisonally dialing the temp up or down a few degrees (it goes in 2's), you never have to touch them, and they do heat up even faster than the 928, which is still impressive. The Saab does a better job of holding temp thatn the 928, probably because it also adjust fan speed an source automatically, something I wish they had upgraded at some point on the 928.

Hear that Rod?

I had the VW bug experience my grandmother owned a 69 auto stick it had two speeds slow and slower I can say that the heater is hot if your in the back. I had thrown my ball cap on the rear floorboard then I smell something burning the damn thing melted my hat.
