Well, that BK mount is certainly pimp, but for ~$200, I'd rather have entire trio of the Halotron FE, its red mount, and the SE bracket. Of course, I haven't put the seat back in the car, nor given the wife a chance to tear her skirt on the exposed FE handle, so we'll see how that goes.......

EDIT:

Larry, if you buy the SE bracket and parts and drive down here, I'll mount it up for you. I could probably re-do the whole thing in 30 minutes.

Also, it turns out (maybe this is common knowledge, but it wasn't for me..) there are 2 sets of set mounting holes- mine are in the front position, but I'm 6'4"- when I pull the driver's seat to Leatherique it, I'll be bying myself an extra 25 mm of legroom.

Rob, the most important thing is that you have a FE in easy reach and that it's NOT a dry chem. If your wife snags something on it, then the fancier mounts are a no-brainer. If you you went with one of the fancier mounts out of the gate, there would be questions about "why did you spend so much money on a FE mount". In my case, I had to put up with a lot of suggestions about where to put the FE(not all of them anatomically possible) until I put my foot down and said "that's where it's going, PERIOD, we can put a towel over it till I find a better solution that doesn't dig into your legs".

Rob, Thanks for the offer, probably sometime after the holidays, I'll buy what ever I need and go to your place. Sounds like fun

Dave, you're right, having an FE in reach and not being dry chem are the two most important points. I have an Amerex Halon 1211 extinguisher behind the passenger seat for the time being until I get time to have a mount made. The BK ones are way too expensive and I don't like how the SE mount holds the FE on top of the mount instead of forward of it.

Anybody use the Dupont clean agents instead of Halon or Halotron? Apparently it is far less harmless and non-corrosive. It is also not restricted (Halon) or scheduled to be restricted (Halotron I).

I still have dry chem ones in my cars, yeah they leave a mess but, big but, at least I'll just be cleaning up a mess not shopping for a replacement again...

When the funds allow I'll add the Halotron and the engine bay supression sytem similar to what Alan has.

till then I carry not one but two, a 2.5 pounder and a 5 pounder.

Shane, I paid $91 for my 2.5lb Halon shipped from CA. It's worth the extra few dollars not to destroy everything the stuff touches.

Shane, I know this issue is real close to home for you. I'd be carrying whatever fire ext. I could get my hands on if I were you as well. Anything is better than having nothing, you'll get no argument from me on that!

I mod the mount so it sits lower away from passenger's legs. https://rennlist.com/forums/members/...9-cimg1275.jpg
