I figured that I would get run thru the coals for picking brass, the only other option was Stainless and I thought that it clashed worse than the brass against the brown interior I really do appreciate the opinions and I did want them: good, bad, or in different. I appreciate the candor of all...I will be so glad to when Dec. gets here and I have money for more than rent and Ramen...Anybody need a good Elec.Eng. w/a mathmatics minor and an emphasis in high voltage? If so give me PM?

"An engineer can do with 1 dollar what a normal person can do with 10."

Rng-
Is that a binary thing?

Nothing to add that hasn't been said, except you found a functional solution to the problem at hand. While form must follow function, function must follow your fiduciary (sp?) situation. I praise you for gettting this car instead of buying something on the credit with which you've undoubtedly been barraged as you attended school, but seriously, if your first car is a 928, where do you go from here?

Good luck in December.

Joe,

I can't even afford to send my own kids to college, I'm not in a position to help anyone else out in that direction.

NJSharkFan,

I suppose it could be binary 2, but it is meant as ten ( 1010 )
also,my folks couldnt afford to help me pay for skool either (although they have helped some)...I got 45K in student loans to pay back, not looking forward to that did i already say that I second Joe's motion?

What's more important, a college education or keeping 928s in good condition?

I know, money has been a little tight here also lately and with the holidays coming, it seems to never end.

I applaud his effort but...

Let's see, if we get 100 people to send in $1, he could get a used "T" and a leather boot?

Joe,

I think Paul offered him a small patch of matching leather to dress up the piece he fabricated. I think that would just add the finishing touch while allowing him to use the piece that he put his time and efforts into.

Rng, you interested in that?

Dozman already offered the part, we just need to cover shipping. Can't be more than 10 bucks...

I'm willing to donate the entire cost to ship (within reason). If the poster and Dozman want to work out the details, post the cost and receiving email and I'll paypal.

I appreciate the ingenuity in trying to come up with a workable solution, which you have clearly done, but the aesthetics make me want to cry.

Maybe someone else will chip in for window switch overlays. And floormats.

Man, y'all are the best... Really. I would really be appreciative if I could take y'all up on the contributions to help me make this girl look nice on the inside. Many many humble thanks.

oh yeah...what I have on the floor are not the floor mats? I thought those were the floor mats. Damn, what is supposed to be there?

looks like carpet to me. floormats go over carpet and are easier to clean when ditry or replace when worn.

If John is sending you a new plate, I guess you don't need the leather, but if you feel you do, just PM me your address.

to be honest and truthful i was thinking about starting a threat with photos of my car and indicating that my 928 really needs a fundraiser...
maybe you guys have parts that would not be ok for you but with a little tlc on my behalf would be better than nothing.
just an idea

Hey guys, my fundraiser comment was kind of half joking. I know we'd all like to help out but unfortunately it's just not possible.

Someone mentioned switch overlays, I just bought some console switch overlays and I don't really need them. PM me your address Rng, and I'll mail them out to you if you want them.
